335i vs 135i calipers - what's better for track use?
As the title suggests, which holds up better to abuse at the track?
I bought a full set off 335i brakes as an upgrade for the fronts but I am wondering if there is any benefit to switching out the rears. Can I use a bigger rotor also? Cheers |

I went with 335 simply because of the thickness of the rotors. Bimmerworld brass bushings, a set of PFC-08 pads and Stoptech slotted rotors and I have zero complaints. They just work and never over heat. Also, the pad choice is endless since it's the same pad as the M3.
I switched the rears, which did require the E9x hub, but now I can run 17x9 et37 (42 +5mm spacer) squared no problem. |

Can't speak for the 335 calipers, but I used 135i calipers on my 128i hoping they'd hold up with less speed and a lighter car. The actual performance is more than adequate, but my dust boots were cooked and the ceramic tops were breaking down after a season and change.
Rebuilt with the Racing Brake kit, which has held up well to two weekends so far. |

Do you have to use ducting to the brake dust shield? What run group are in you in? I ve been thinking about doing this for awhile now, any chance you could post pics of the front wheels specially clearance to the inner rim(barrel) and top of caliper. Concerned about fit on my 17s (BMW style 68). After Co driving a Caymen R I realize how little confidence I still have in my brakes even with everything coded off, ducts, PFC 08 pads, bleeding using INPA and fresh fluid basically every event. Thanks

Did you switch them out mainly to run the 17" square setup? Or are they a better (rear) brake? |

I wanted to make sure I kept the brake balance consistent, to fit the squared set up, use 335/M3 pads (wayyyy more choice) all the way around, and so it wouldn't look goofy. The rear brakes are bigger than the 135, and I leave the e diff on for track use so the rears do get a work out. |

Sorry about the delay, totally slipped my mind. Here's a couple pictures. As you can see, extremely tight with the 17" ARC-8. I would be concerned with the 68. If you know someone with an E9x 335 you can test fit on that.
