Not sure about the "reign supreme by far" part, but our lil 135i can handle the track extremely well with a few suspension mods. Even less mods for the 1M.

I know nothing about the 1M or the 135i, but is it simply that the supporting hardware on the 1M allows tuners to push it a bit harder within safe limits? I.E bigger intercooler, better more freeflowing pipework, stronger gearbox and LSD on the back etc etc.

Just a thought.
