Couple coats of wheel wax every few months seems to help repel the dust a bit...not much, but a bit. However, when it comes time to wash, just make sure the rims are stone cold and the brake dust will easily come off with soap and water and very little effort. If the rims are warm from driving, the dust seems to stick to the rim and requires more scrubbing.
my 2 cents. |

Ah yes, the brush just gets off the layers of brake dust on the front of the wheel. I can't actually use it on the inside because it doesn't fit through these damned W-spoke wheels. So for that, as well as finer details and buffing after waxing, I use microfiber as well

if you order from unitedbmwparts.com - it's cheaper than getting it from the dealer. I just ordered mine today.

My experience with the brake dust hasn't been too traumatic, largely thanks to tips I've gleaned from the forums here.. I use the Klasse twins, so my wheels have 3 coats of sealant glaze on.. brake dust accumulates quickly, but once the wheels are cool it removes very easily with a small California car duster (used only for wheels, naturally). I do that every 2 days or so, and wash as usual every 1-1.5 weeks. The wheels look great, and no acid required.

If you like the BMW Wheel cleaner, you'll love the new formula. It is as good, if not better than Sonax Full Effect, and cheaper!
