The first option is not Logic 7 and just an upgraded speaker option.
The additional two 'HiFi' options is standard across Europe and Australia.

The point is that here in Spain LOGIC7 was not detailed in the product information provided by BMW (while it is in the info for the 3 Series), but it is there. Maybe it was not published for licensing reasons.
I doubt that BMW uses different hi-fi systems here and in the USA, just because it is more expensive to design another system or to implement a different sound processor when you have already done it. The main difference is that, while the 3 Series has 13 speakers, the 1 Series has just 10. Maybe 10 speakers are not enough to get full LOGIC7 certification, but the sound processing is still there. I don't know, I am just guessing. |

Just found out that logic 7 is simply a sound processing algorithm (DSP) developed by a company called lexicon and has nothing to do with harmon kardon. The speakers could be anything...

A bit of history here... BMW USA initially listed Logic7 as an option on the 1er site when the page initially went up in mid-December. Within a couple of days, it was explicitly changed to say "Premium Hi-Fi" instead, matching the description of the X3's upgraded audio, which we know is not Logic7. Coupled with atr_hugo's query of BMW USA PR rep at the Chicago show, who replied that Logic7 is not available in the US 1er, and, well... it ain't lookin' (soundin'?) good. Given that the Premium Hi-Fi option does include DSP of some flavor, the question is what we're really missing if Logic7 doesn't turn up stateside. |

The answer I got is NO, it is not Logic 7, regardless of how it's optioned. They had to disappear for a few minutes to check before they returned with the answer - so I suspect they weren't blowing sunshine up my . . . ; -)

I'm almost convinced that someone is intentionally jerking our collective chain now...
The 1er model info on bmwusa.com has flip-flopped and lists Logic7 as an available feature in the Model Highlights -> Entertainment section. As I mentioned earlier, it was listed this way initially when the site first went up, but was changed within a couple of days to show the "Premium HiFi" option instead. Who knows at this point. |

Not in the US (but I believe it is in Europe). So now what's the difference between the DSP in the non-Logic 7 US premium stereo and the European Logic 7 premium stereo. ; -)

At this point, we've gotten so many mixed signals and so much conflicting information that I don't know and just don't care anymore. I do believe that the presence or absence of iDrive has nothing to do with what DSP is available (Logic7 or not).
