No problems here with a 1st gen iPhone, running either the original firmware or the latest v2. I did have a small problem with the phone showing up as 'localhost' instead of 'Andrews iPhone' when I first switched to v2 software but after a restore through iTunes, all was good [no iDrive here BTW]

I previously had the 1st generation iphone paired with my 07 & 08 X5. Updated with my 16GB iphone today with no issues. I didn't get BT with my 135i.

I synced my iPhone 3G today with the 135i. Everything seems to work fine but I couldn't get it to dial out with the voice activation (keeps saying address book is empty eventhough I can access my address book through the radio). Anyone know if this is to be expected?

I re-paired my phone 3 times and the echoing is at a more acceptable level since, even with the volume up. Not as crystal clear as the original iPhone but I can live with it until a fix gets here.

But I'm going to have to try the suggestion of turning the handset volume up during a call. Haven't tried that yet. amy! |

got my iphone last night. I haven't paired it with the car yet. Any suggestions as to how to do it to make sure the contact list loads up? I'm worried about it since I killed a phone pairing it when I got my car. My old razr paired fine, but contacts would not update everytime I got in the car. I'll let you know how things go.

sync with the car went fine, except all my contacts are last name, first name.....which makes the verbal commands a PITA. I adjusted the order in the phone and am hoping that will cure it. No ringing or echoing in the car. My wife says I sound like I'm in a hollow room, my brother said that he had a hard time understanding me like I was cutting in and out. :iono:

I don't know about the cars WITHOUT idrive, but with idrive all I have to do is say "call tim birdwell mobile" and it will confirm and then dial the number. When I first sync'd the iphone I would have to say "call birdwell tim mobile." All I had to do was switch the order in the settings on the iphone to organize it by first name rather than the last name.
More on topic....I have the echo but not too bad. It seems the reception on the phone I'm calling is not good at all. I get more bars with my razr. In the car, the sound quality of the calls is good. I hope apple fixes these bluetooth issues.

Sorry for the hasty reply. I know only the non-iDrive. Glad to hear your voice dialing works well. 1 week for me with the iP 3G and no appreciable echo.

Thank you so much for bringing this up! I got the new iPhone last week and thought I was the only one. The ring-modulated echo is HORRIBLE.
I am seriously thinking about going back to my EDGE iPhone and throwing this piece of shit on eBay.

no problem, man. I think it is good to get as much detailed info out there. I have noticed that the echo is almost non-existant if I turn the bluetooth volume up all the way on the phone. My reception, however, is still not very good (thru the car or thru the phone only)
