For HiFi, you would use the 4 inputs (Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right) from the OEM HU to the LC6i with no summing as the signal is full range. For Premium HiFi, you would use the 6 outputs (Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right, Sub Left, Sub Right) from the OEM amplifier into the LC6i with the jumpers set to sum the signals. In this case, I suspect the LC6i gains would need to be lower than the 80% I have set mine at for my HiFi system. The pre-outs from the LC6i can then be linked up direct to an amplifier or maybe an EQ before. Have a look at page 9 of the manual to see diagrams of different summed setups. http://rs.audiocontrol.com/company_38//LC6i_OM.pdf |

Just a heads up, the PDX amps, while great bang for the buck, are NOT quiet amps. Every one I've ever heard had audible hiss. They're just noisy amps. I'm not saying not to use them but be aware you will never be able to get rid of all of the hiss. JL has a 5 channel HD coming that's smaller, quieter, and just as powerful as the PDX5. Unfortunately is about a grand.

I will more than likely try to see if Audison has an application I can use since their amps are ROCK solid and its what I had in my old E39
(Audison amps, Hertz components and Subs). |

Where is the gain set? At minimum gain, every HD I've heard is dead quiet.
It's a design flaw, not a question of who sold it. All the PDXs simply have a high noise floor. It's not a whine or anything RPM dependent, just a background hiss that's always there. It might be a quiet hiss, but it is there. |

I think you are asking on what possibilities are there to improve over the Premium Hi-Fi sound? I was wondering the same thing. Any suggestions anyone? Any specific components to buy & replace?

If the only thing that is needed is a little extra bass/mid bass to the OEM system then a 2-channel LOC, a 2 channel amp of 150W RMS and a pair of SWS-8 is all you need. For example (you can find better prices in other internet retailers, this is only for item descriptions): 2-channel LOC: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...Gate+LOCX.html - the main issue here is that it accepts up to 80W max inputs and puts out a very high low level signal. The Logic7 amp puts out 70W max to the underseat OEM woofers. This LOC connects to the underseat OEM woofer outputs of the OEM amp. 2-channel amp: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ch+P400-2.html SWS-8 in 2 ohms version: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ms+SWS-8-.html The remote wire is located in the back of the OEM HU/iDrive in pin 13. |

Treated? That's interesting. With what? And, are the SWS treated with that? Hard to tell from their website. I see that they aren't very efficient either, but then being in the cabin you won't need too much power. I am concerned about the low power handling though. It's a cool design too. Hmm, so everythine has been sounding great. I actually need to turn my LC6I gains down for the subs, because I have way too much bass. (the highest I ever go on the head unit is 0, and am usually at -4).
I do, however, still have an issue with alterntor whine as I accelerate. Obviously, I can only hear it when the radio is quiet. But when it's off, and I stomp the gas, I can hear the high pitch whine in my speakers all the way to redline. I need to pull this apart and find the problem... |

Does the PDX-5 accept the OEM speakers even though the amp is rated for 4ohm or above on the main channels.
I thought the OEM speakers were all 2ohm. |
