type 359 and the M359 replicas really are gorgeous. I wish someone would make a lightweight "copy" of the 359. No reason with flow forging it couldn't be cut down to ~20lbs per wheel tops. Definitely a market for it since I believe the OE BMW BBS made wheels are several pounds heavier per corner, and the AG M359 are gravity cast, so really heavy.

Couldn't agree more. These are pretty heavy... if this was a track focused build I would've gone for VMRs flow formed v710 or Apex. But at the end of the day this car will only see spirited back road driving and date nights; which is why I chose something I wouldn't mind looking at for a year or so until I do the rear.

Have you seen the VMR V801 release? Makes me wonder...

I did. I almost pulled the trigger on those. But every photoshop mockup I did didn't really come out looking right and their are no real world pictures of the wheels on cars yet. Not sure if they fit the 1er style or not yet.

I agree, I was considering the V801s also. But since they are very similar to the BMW style 666m wheel (that come on new M3 and M4), I feel like they don't fit with the more rounded lines of the 1 series.

BTW they have posted some pics on a customer's car and they do look nice on newer BMWs.

Those do look nice... in a big size like 19 or 20. I feared they wouldn't pull off the same look at 18 which is why I decided to go with the 359's.

Got around to pulling the front apart this evening since it finally cooled off outside. No headaches so far.

Decided to put it on the lift to save my lower back, however I can't open the doors fully to get the fenders off... so that's where I will pick back up tomorrow evening.

Another good night. Decided to tackle the reservoir side first. Had to fight the side skirt/fender connection for a while because I'am stubborn and didn't want to remove the side skirts.

Ran out of daylight for today... but did do a quick bumper and fender test fit.

yes the front bumper still needs to be wet sanded/buffed&polished.

Half way mark. All 135i bits are off. Going to try and get the aux radiator mounted today and start putting all the 1M bits on.

Unfortunately Apex took their time to send me my new TPMS and Hyper Silver Lug bolts. So wheels will have to wait until next week to be mounted.

The build looks awesome so far! Glad to see another BSM colored car out there. If you don't mind me asking what width and offset did you go with on the wheels? I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on the AG wheels for a while now, but I'm not sure about the sizing on stock msport suspension.

Thanks appreciate it!

I went with 18x9.5 et45 rear and 18x9.5 et22 front. Going to run PSS 255 squared for the time being. I could've gone with better offset wheels and run 265-275 squared but decided against it for now.

Passenger side is completely done. New 255 PSS's for the front came in.

Unfortunately I purchased the wrong (passenger side) bracket for the driver side aux radiator... luckily the driver side was in stock at Tischer so should be here in a day.

Hopefully thats the only hiccup I have for the rest of the front-end.

Just iPhone pictures for tonight. Bracket came in. Made quick work of cutting the welded bolts off and punching them out. Painted it this afternoon to avoid rust issues.

Mounted and got the headlight back in as well.

Now that the fronts done. All that's left is to finish the driver side, mount the front bumper, and get my new tires mounted on the M359's and take it for a drive this weekend

Just about finished up last night. Have to pull the bumper back off and hook up the TPMS.

Also experimented with a forum members LCI headlight decals. Can't make up my mind if I like them or not yet.

Looking good buddy. I'd pass on those decals and put real eyebrows on.

Vinyl wrap on hood?

Yea im 50/50 on them.

Hood is painted. I was wondering if someone was going to point out how funny the paint looks inside the garage. Its the reflection of the ceiling thats making it look weird.
