Can this tire be fixed?

I ran over a pot hole this morning on the way to work and now my front tire looks like this. Can it be fixed? Only 4K miles on my car

Looks like the tire bubbled, most likely the wheel is bent just below there.

I see bulging, plus the tire doesn't look like it is properly seated onto the rim anymore, so my guess is it cannot be fixed...

Yeah, that looks a lot like my tire after a pothole impact - definitely had to replace it.

Huge damage.

On the plus side, non-RFTs are a lot less harsh over potholes and (I think) less likely to fail in that same manner.

whenever you have side damage like that, it you can expect to replace the tire. It would never be a good idea to fix that.

Have the old tire removed, and have the old wheel spun on the wheel/tire machine, you will see a bend if there is one. If not, when the new tire is mounted, pay attention to how much weight it requires to balance it.

If I buy a used wheel and tire from another member and install it on my car. Would the TPMS sensor sync up with the rest of my wheels?

Not sure for BMW but on my Infiniti, I had to bring it to dealer to have the new sensor sync up with the car.

I did have to get the wheel straightened, and ended up replacing it with performance rims.. kind of a drag. I think I'm going to use the stock wheels for snow, though.

I'm 99% sure the TPMS sensor will sync just fine after you reset the system. I think the interface to them is in the wheel wells so it'll read whatever sensor is there - I don't think they have to be explicitly paired.

Yes, but you will need to follow the steps to clear the code. You can have it done at a major tire store, like Discount Tire, otherwise call your service rep, and ask them how to clear the code.

Email your city council or CEO about the pothole and having your wheel and tire repaired by the city or county.

Yep.. worked for me here in ATL though. I ran over a huge pot hole off of Lenox Road once. I reported it, got my wheel repair fee taken care of and actually made money since I know someone in the business lol :w00t:

Btw, the TPMS sensors should sync properly
