Extended Warranty on 128i Convertible

Hello

I recently purchased 2012 128i Convertible 6MT w/ 30k miles. I do basic maintenance/repair like oil changes, brakes, muffler swap. If I were to get any out of warranty fixes, I would try to do myself or would have an indy shop do the work.

I'm also under the impression that the 128i 6MT is the more reliable choice for a 1 series, but that may not mean much.

My warranty covers me until May 10th 2017.

The dealership offered me an extended warranty for $2000 CDN + tax + $50 deductible which will last an extra 4 years (2021) until 108k miles.

Is it worth the price? Should I expect to spend more than $2500 in repairs between 2018-2021?

Any thoughts?

Has nobody had any problems with 128i in the first 7 years or 115k miles?

Honestly that sounds like an incredible deal.

I'm considering the purchase of the Platinum BMW 84M/70K warranty for $3500, marked down from $3850. Does anyone have any info on if that's a fair price or not? This is for a 2013 135i Convertible DCT.

No issues at all with my 2010 but not a lot of miles as it's a summer only car. 128 reliability seems to be very good and I'd expect you could easily pass the 115k. mile mark with nothing other than an educated maintenance program. That said, as mentioned above, the price sounds surprising low. Is everything covered? Anyway, I took a pass on extended warranty- so far, so good.

I never buy extended warranties but that price does seem excellent. I have an 08 128 with 83K (not winter driven) and have not had a single issue.

When I purchased my '13 new, I paid $2,750 for the Plat. 7yr/ 70k miles warranty. Real price of that was $3,300 accounting for the interest I'm paying over the course of the loan, which they're likely factoring into the price you've been quoted.
