I didn't take off what was left of the original vinyl, it's visible. But it's an "ok" jobs since it looked horrible & im selling the car so I'm not worried about it.

Yep

Today I fixed some wind noise. Previous owner had a new window regulator installed. Guess the window sagged a little bit and the back of it didn't press against the seal totally. Pulled it up and tightened the screw, fixed it.

This morning, on the way to the office, my AT shift wiring finally broke
Had a good run, made it to 97,400 miles.

Time to go hunt down the repair details & see if it's a "tonight" fix, or a "this weekend" fix...
hoping for tonight, already miss my paddles!

So you only lose sport mode and paddles?

Please report back on how much difficult it is to pull the trim. I'm debating preemptively re-routing my wiring. But I've read somewhere that in later models (mine is 2013) they fixed the tight wiring problem.

It's a tonight kinda fix. Super easy to fix. Just follow the DIY that's floating around. I believe it's on E90Post

Thank you, did you also install an improved DSSR or is this overkill?

Can this be done from the inside of the car or preferably from the bottom?

I did not install a new DSSR. Only the lever, bushing and retaining clip.

I did most of the work from inside the car. I was able to rotate the bushing, pull the clip off and work the old lever/bushing out from inside. I had to put the new clip on from under the car thought but theres plenty of room IMO.

Yep, anything that is triggered by moving the shift lever to the left. Normal Drive mode, along with the temporary paddle action, is still working just fine.

AT shift trim is just a pull-up affair- it's got tabs holding it down, but I'm not sure that this problem exists with the DCT...

Sounds exactly what people have reported with Steptronic problems.

Yes, but also no. Something new for the E82 chassis for those willing to change some critical parts.

I'll have more details soon and pictures once I have them in my hands.

Still debating getting a set of Intrax. But holy hell those are serious $$$ in the config I'd want.

Yeah, nothing fancy here, just the usual broken wire thing.

Good for you.
I thought you had the DCT. From what I've gathered the Steptronic is less problem prone but doesn't have the lightning fast shifts which is a positive trade-off as far as I'm concerned.
