I used the Dinan unit. It's enough for Texas track temps and FBO. Minor fitment issues with the cooler and scoop but easily solved. I also added a couple of fixed oil line looms (theirs aren't) to keep them from rubbing. I also added additional venting with screen to the fender liner that Dinan didn't specify. I've had it almost three years without issue.

Txmtrhed can you please elaborate on the venting you did. I will be doing the install in a month or so and would be interested in hearing more about what you did. If you have a pic that would be great too. I still have to order the updated E92 liners to clear for some 255 I want to put up front. Thanks.

The Dinan cooler is taller and sits lower than the OEM unit so I opened up the fender liner to aid the air flow. I didn't cut it all out as I wanted to retain some extra support for the liner but that's probably not necessary as the screen adds some stiffness. The cooler extends above the existing vent too but not as much as below and I didn't think it was worth cutting.

"The 1M does not require the Competition Series Oil Cooler. The 1M has the BMW Power Kit installed from the factory. What it does is add an auxiliary water cooler to the driver’s side. This additional cooler helps lower coolant temperatures which in term helps with oil cooling. We found that the 1M only needs the Sport upgrade." |

Yes, I meant the competition kit. I am toying with the idea of deleting the auxiliary radiator from the power kit. The Musimoto Radiator has a extra 35% in cooling capacity, and if I get it, and delete the aux rad, I can add the ER competition kit.
What do you guys think of that? |

Our Time Attack 335i only had an upgraded radiator only and no overheating issues. Then again we had a vented hood that may have helped a bit. |

I could I guess. The thing is, my coolant temps have always been solid, even when the oil temps are creeping into limp mode.... thats the reason for the way I am thinking of going about this.

You can always remove the auxiliary water cooler if what I suggest didn't work. What kind of oil and viscosity are you currently using? |

I am running Motul 8100 5w40. I tried some Joe gibbs DT40 before but didn't like the smell or color of it when drained. I should also add I am in Boston where temps swing wildly. So I do need the 50/50 antifreeze water mix.

You could replace the 2 rads themselves with larger items, ie sport cooler on the rightside inplace of the oem oil cooler, and then a matching bigger one for the aux water cooler on the leftside, thus keeping all the oem pipework, and adding more efficient larger rads.

I might try this in summer. This engine is pretty noisy with the direct injection and the cover off. This is my daily, so although a minor concern, it is still a concern.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I decided to go with a CSF triple pass radiator with Redline coolant, deleting the auxiliary radiator and installing a stock location Dual Oil cooler kit from Motorsports24 in Germany. The little extra oil capacity from this setup will give me additional peace of mind too. Since I am in Boston, we will see how it turns out this summer!

Please try to snap some install pics if possible. I've been contemplating CSF radiator install DIY but I'm guaranteed to suffer given the cramped engine bay. Am also very curious about the oil cooler setup and what trimming will be involved.
