Looks like someone has taken a 1M and put in F30 grille and lights. Which I kinda like.

The M2 Cabrio renders which are pictured below suit much better my personal taste.
(renders conceived by Dejan Hristov: http://www.boldride.com/ride/2013/bm...-dejan-hristov) Previous renders:

I'll admit I like it but I dont like the way the headlights and the grille work on the f30 and on this render. Can we dub it the angry pig snout?

It is a nice try, but than again far from the truth, too much "old" 1M details.
We`ll have to wait and see how BMW will design the next M2 1Hope for a 6IL 2Hope for not growing on size 3Hope for some less weight I do think the next M2 will have full potential to be the best ///M in succession off the 1M. M3-M4 have definitely grown too much in size/weight, I did drive an E92 M3 for 3 years, although a very good car, it lacks agility, like current 1M and hopefully the next M2 ! I sincerely do hope the M2 will be the next master at the agility department ! |

"The Downsized M"
Nope, the next gen 1M (labelled "M2" and internally nicknamed "The Downsized M") will be a four cylinder and lighter than the E82 1M: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...5&postcount=35
Or to phrase the usually-well-in-the-know Scott26 (July 2012) (read his interesting post giving us a brief peek behind the ///M curtains: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showpo...9&postcount=23): "Although work has commenced on the "Downsized" M, The M2 or the replacement for the most admired 1er M Coupe. It is known as the "Downsized" M because BMW M are investigating the concept of a completely reworked N20 based four cylinder in terms of the successor to the 1M offering the same recipe as before but with lower weight but still offering the entry to M ownership with the key of precision rather than outright power."

Here's the issue. The m235i is already confirmed to have an N55 engine. Would they dare to put a smaller engine in the M over a regular production car? Why introduce a M235i at all? Is it going to be a "1 year only" deal like the 1M was? That's quite confusing. |

I have a strong feeling that next M2 will "officially" have just a few hp more than the 1M, same as next M3/M4 having like 1 hp more than E9X M3. BMW will claim more torque and less weight combined with more efficiency and refinement about those cars and advertise better performance numbers. I bet they will be underrated less maybe not at all, unlike a 1M.
If next M2 comes with a 4 cylinder it will be hard to claim that it has more torque than the 1M though, or even a M135i/M235i. But with right weight and an optional auto/DCT they will still claim better performance numbers etc. And people will buy it. I can buy one too, you never know. But I doubt that these next Ms will have the raw feeling of a 1M, they will feel different, more high tech and probably more distant than the driver because of this. I am much more curious about how I will "feel about" driving those cars, connection about them rather than their (advertised) numbers and specifications. Same goes for their design, I expect more refinement and chances of personalization but less masculinity or agressiveness.

Any word on if the 2 series will be bigger/longer then the current 1 series? Obviously the 3 series grew between e90 to f30, I'm really hoping any increase is negligible.
Either way I'm really excited to see how the M2 and 2er in general turn out.
