128i Suspension improvement project
Non-sport model, never gonna track, I'm still running a fairly new square set of 205 Pirelli P7.
I just added an MSport front sway. And I picked up a set of barely used Goodyear Eagle Sports, mostly for being nonrunflat and 225's. I haven't put them on yet but they are kind of waiting to try for sh*ts & giggles. I wonder if even discount nonrunflats are better than runflats. My next move I think is Whiteline inserts. Then Koni Str.t kit with springs. Any feedback appreciated. |

Good plan! I am running stock M sport suspension now, nonRFTs are first on my list. Then whitelines RSFB and finally a nice set of shocks and springs (thinking konis and H&R). would like a little bit of drop too. Want to run square but my fronts are 7 and rears are 7.5, so no rotating .

My $.02 based on personal experience.
1. RSFB or 2 pc bushings or inserts, pick whatever you can afford. I did the inserts best mod I've done. 2. Front M3 control arms. 3. Rear differential bracket for $100 bucks from a forum member. 135droptop I think I was. Then suspension. Personally I chose the Öhlins R&T. My next choice would have been KW v1, TCKline or the new KONI Special Actives with BMW performance springs.

The car in even stock form is fun to drive! I hear that OEM or Bilstein B4 is a better performer than Koni Str.t. I really like my Dinan performance springs but they only gave me a very slight drop, .5 just like they advertise so if you want to go noticeably lower I would look at Eibach or H&R.

It locks down the rear differential which has a lot of movement on the 135. It reduces the e-diff tendency to give "one tire fire" or wheel-hop on slow hard accel. cornering.

I'm on Koni Str.t but I have M-sport suspension and kept the springs oem. If it's a daily driver I recommend this setup. If I did it over I'd have upgraded to camber plates add.
if its more then a daily or a toy I'd go Koni Sport and springs or Bilstien B12 kit 1M/M3 TRW arms a must as Gangplank suggested I would do them before inserts Last edited by Tuxedo; 08-12-2018 at 10:48 PM.. |

Here is my plan for what its worth:
Ordered one of the last remaining BMW Performance Suspensions. It finally arrived three days ago. Next step is to order the M3 rear subframe bushings and the M3/TRW Front control arms. Will install all of that at one time. And then, once my current set of tires wear out, I'd like to go to a square setup of 17x7.5 with 225/45/r17. |

I've decided to go the the Solo-Werks S1 coilovers, install being done next week.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to switch out my stock 205 runflats for a set of 225 regular tires- although they are a discount brand. |

Kinda doing this with my own 128i. Just did the Black Powerflex thrust arm bushings, picked up some clean m261 wheels (gonna get some AS tires for em next month), but need a suspension refresh. Would the 135i Sport Suspension be any good? Can pick up Used Parts 15k miles for $100. Thanks guys!

Look for a front swaybar if you can get it cheap as well...might as well stick it in there while you're at it. |

PS: Make sure you get the bump stops, as they will be shorter/different than your stock non-sport ones. They are part of the front struts so if you're buying the struts pre-assembled then all good, the rears are separate so if they are not included, maybe order a set (they are cheap parts). |

If you think you will be keeping the springs for a long time, you should consider changing the struts/shocks out. If you are trying to keep the spend down look at Bilstein OE replacements (B4 I think and not too pricey). The logic here is the time and/or expense of changing out the dampers - especially the fronts - is high.
