Incase anyone is interested, Automobile Magazine had a little blurb on the 1er in the Aug. 07 "Sneek Peak" article. The 1er will have the E46 M3 inline six that puts out 333 HP. (I'm serious)

Maybe they should read Junes Car & Driver so they can get updated.

The S54 would suck in the E82. The S54 has a cast iron block. It would add a considerable amount of weight and there is not enough of a HP gap. Personally, I rather have the N54.

Anyday! Just like that.

I think we are fast coming to a point of clarity about the 1-er- ie, these automobile mags have no idea what the hell they are talking about.
You keep hearing about how inaccurate internet sites are - and yet the mainstream press, in spite of having direct contact with their sources,
manages to get it wrong all the time.

I agree. And FWIW, the 08 M3 article in the C&D we are talking about, said that the V8 is 30 lbs. lighter than the S54. I live at high altitude. For me, it isn't about the HP number for the N54, it's about the turbos. A S54 would only give me ~270 where I live (albeit w/o turbo lag). I'm close to that with my Subi. N54 FTW
