State Inspection with 3IM?

I'm about to install a 3 stage intake manifold on my 128i. Does anyone have experience passing Mass state inspection with a 3IM and tune?

This may not be helpful, but do you have a N52 engine car (as the ones sold in New England/NY came with the N51 engine which has the 3 stage intake manifold from factory to makeup for the lower compression)?

Great question, but I have an N52.

Thought as much, great that you have the more reliable one! I have gone through this page and I really cannot see why your car with the 3 stage intake manifold (and a remap to account for that) cannot pass the inspection - https://www.mavehiclecheck.com/motorists-basicinfo
From an emissions POV if the shop's reader can get a clean read, not see any engine engine light or emission related codes, you should be good.

You'll be fine. The 330i comes with the 3 stage manifold stock and it's on the n52, so unless you've got a CEL or SES light you're safe to go.

3IM doesn't increase emissions

Sec 1 or 2 cat delete and that's where you might run into an issue

Thanks! I read on some thread that one of the tunes was based on an European 330i which would show that some emissions component was missing.

No issues with getting my 2013 128i N52 (a RI car, I believe) inspected at a BMW dealership despite the 3IM and software - and I've asked them to add a service memo for my car that NO SOFTWARE UPDATES are to be performed because I have software for engine management installed!

If you use the Bimmerlabs tune, it disables the evap system check which will land you a visit to a MAC.
See most of my other posts for more info.
If you have a reccomendation for a local tuner that does not use the bimmerlabs tune, please share.
