1M or C coupe AMG
with the latest news coming that Mercedes is planning to reveal an AMG version of the upcoming C-class coupe next year, and comparison talk between Mustang and 1M...
would you take the AMG C coupe over the 1M? http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/05/r...c63-amg-coupe/ personally, while the AMG pots are beyond great in their power, i'd still get the 1M. |

It would be an interesting choice. Assuming AMG use one of their brilliant, hand-built powerhouses as the heart of the car (& BMW simply rehash a N54 or N55) & I wanted something different to a BMW then I would get the Benz.

It appears that the C Class AMG Coupe is targeting M3 not 1M and I would expect the price to be in line with that.
I have read reports that Mercedes are lining up a baby CLS (based on F800 concept) that will more likely be a rival to 1M but is not out for a couple of years. |

problem with those amg's is they are overpowered and chassis and suspension can't handle it at times...juts watch Jeremy Clarksons' review of the c63 amg.

1M - 360hp tops
5.5V8 TT - around 500hp/500 lb/ft torque.. and will sound meaner.. and 7 speed auto-manual.. C63 please (will probably be $65k+ car though). |

The reason I won't buy a Benz is because they don't offer a manual gearbox. If BMW follows their lead, I won't buy a new Bimmer either...

yeah this comparison will not work, however I'd love to see an AMG engine in a smaller C coupe. C63 big M3 like and not for me. AMG engine's are far superior to anything out there in my opinion.

I'd go for the 1M too ... especially because the roads I'm usually driving are quite narrow with lots of turns: Handling first, power second. |

Agreed!
Drool: http://www.worldcarfans.com/11003092...ngine-in-depth 0-60 in 4.5 on a HEAVY 5000 lb sedan.. That engine in a C class will be a mid-3 second car. Tire/road permitting.. Last edited by amdmaxx; 08-07-2010 at 06:37 AM.. |

They also smoke the tires with ease. I had spoken to a AMG owner and he hated the factory tires because as soon as he mashed the gas from a stop.............tire smoke & no grip

And they could move around the track as well. Chances are the C class AMG coupe will have about the same hp as the C63 AMG sedan, which is positioned as M3 sedan competitor ( and Lexus IS-F) Basically there is no comparison between the 1M and really any Mercedes. |

There's going to be a big price difference for one thing.
The 63 coupe will compete with the M3, not the M1. Mercedes/AMG doesn't really build a competitor to the 1 series. The new C-class coupe is not much of a looker like the E92 is.... in the spy shots it looks tall and boxy. BTW 7200 rpm redline on the 6.2l is good enough for me

I checked a baby lambo's ego with one of those c63's last year while in Atlanta. What a car!
The 5.5L-TT will be a boosted beast. I cannot wait to drive one, moreover the new stability system is what will make their cars far more fun, and predictable to drive. |

Id get a C63 if i had the money.
But then...if i had the money for a C63 id get a Porsche Carrera S with semislicks. Had the chance to drive one and the handling is just insane. After that ride my 1 felt so soft and slow... Back to the C63; Brakepedal feeling sucks (like tappin a sponge, lulwut) 5speed auto? Hope they bring 6 gear manual or a DCT. The sound of the car is just INCREDIBLE!
