I have CA and iDrive but no window tint, and have never had any problems with the CA. My car will lock/unlock from up to 90 feet away and the CA will properly operate the windows and convertible top anywhere from within 10 feet.
Sorry xbook is having so many problems - hope it gets fixed soon. Tom |

I love my CA, but I've also noticed two problems mentioned here. The distance required to open the 'vert top is too short and the trunk opens easily only about 1/3d of the time. But I've heard even without CA the trunk doesn't always open easily.

Wow. Which pocket do you keep the fob? Anything else, like a cell phone, near it that might interfere?
I haven't had any problems inside the 1. (Left pocket, fob; right pocket, cell phone.) Sometimes outside it's not detected (e.g., when I'm standing directly between the fob and the 1), but that is rare. Ha! Definitely need to do that sometimes for the trunk to open, though.

I have tried all different permutations of which pocket, cell phone no cel phone, leave te company ID badge in the car, take it out of the car. Nothing seems to be the culprit, other than a crappy system.
Also, to add insult to injury, when they did the antenna replacement the tech also updated my car to the latest software. The latest software revision did something to my ipod interface. Now my 4th generation iPod color will no longer be recognized by my car. So I have to go buy a new iPod for the car ... ARGH!!!! Thanks for costing me $250 BMW!!!!

The fob should be sending a radio frequency, which isn't affected by the tint. If it was an infrared then it could be affected. I'm baffled as to why the tint would have caused your problem. |

It sounds weird I know, but some people seem to affect electronics in odd ways. Man, that iPod thing would really piss me off, as if the CA issues aren't already. Tell them you want the old software reinstalled, or have them right up the problem and report it to BMW. The new software should not be doing this. It's obviously some oversight on BMW's engineering side, someone missed some code somewhere as you iPod worked before the update. Having to buy a new one cuts into the "refund" they gave you. Keep complaining and don't let it go. You pay for these added extras, and BMW charges a good amount for the extras. Demand a fix or compensation. |
