UPS + Me = High Blood Pressure

Sorry for this guys I am just a little angry.

On the good side I ordered a set of rims and winter tires for my wife's car (370z). Tire Rack was awesome very quick at well, everything. Within seconds of me calling to correct a small billing address issue everything was mounted balanced and shipped same day and got to my local area the very next day.

Now for the anger.....

UPS said my packages were out for delivery... UPS showed up to my house @ 7pm. Of course I wasn't home I was out having dinner with the wife assuming they were never going to show up due to it being so late. They leave me a nice notice to say they would be back tomorrow during time frame [????]. I don't know they didn't mark one.

BTW UPS usually delivers in my area around 2pm-4pm.

Then today they decide to show up at 9:30am.... Of course if I would have known they were going to show up early I would have called work and went in a little later and worked till late in the evening.

Now I have taken an entire day off of work so that I can sit in my house from 9am till 7pm just to make sure my stuff doesn't get sent back to tire rack.

It will be just my luck that I will be unable to get to the door fast enough for one reason or another and everything will get sent back to tire rack.

Thanks UPS I have taken a day off just for you guys!

Why don't you call UPS and tell them to hold your order at their facility. Then you can go pick it up whenever you have time.

They don't allow you to pick packages that are shipped from tire rack (at least that is what they told me) because of certain restrictions on the packages set by tire rack. They told me I have to be home and sign for them in person at the shipping address.

That's completely false. I picked up my tire and wheel set from tirerack at my local UPS facility after a similar issue.

We do not require that. UPS drops off packages all the time on our behalf where no one is home. It is the drivers discretion.

I called them and asked if I could stop by and pick them up and they told me no and that they were sorry.

Telling them to hold a package is pretty pointless anyway, because UPS is TOTALLY incompetent. I used to call to have packages held. Then, I'd go to the facility, only to be told it had been put back on the truck anyway. You could stand there and watch people being told, one after the other, that the package they'd asked to have held was put back on the truck. It was amazing. They are the pits.

Oh boy. I just bought a set of Hankooks Tuesday night (I don't think my order got confirmed till wed morning because I had to confirm going a size up) but I'm hoping that doesn't happen. Have had probably 4 or 5 sets of tires delivered in the past few years and they always leave it at the front door. I don't think I checked or saw anything like that. I've noticed in some areas UPS acts differently, but here they've always been extremely friendly to me - never thrown anything etc etc.

UPS delivered my winter tires and wheels today as well, nicely stacked in a corner under my deck behind my house. I think it really depends on your delivery driver.

They usually leave stuff here in the leasing office if it needs signed for then the leasing office usually has us sign a paper... not this time I guess

Here's a hint...next time, have them shipped to your work address and take them home from there.

Well as you can tell by my name I will be sticking up for the company I work for. First of all we are not "the pits" we move millions of pkgs every day and 98% of the people are happy, can't please everybody, you all know that read some of the posts about our cars. #2 As a driver I know first hand that a leasing office doesn't want 4 tires in there office waiting to be picked up. #3 The delivery notice probably didn't have a time checked because 2 or 3 different drivers might deliver your area. Its a no win situation, different drivers different times. Hope this helps explain things, believe me we don't want tires on our truck 3 days in a row they are a pain.

Ditto........I do the same job. 4 tires take too much space in the truck,(especially when you in to the truck/monster tires) I will include the bulk packages, like tires as a Overnight commit time, and drop them off before 10:30am. The snag is when its an apartment complex, leave tires and they "tend to grow feet and walk away"

Next time if you don't want to have that problem tire rack has the option to ship directly towards your tire shop of choice. Assuming you go to a reliable one that shouldn't be a problem.

Our leasing office will hold any package that needs signed for stacked in a small room with all the other UPS, Fedex and USPS packages... Would have been easier for them to do that than carry them up to the 3rd floor
