Oregon Raceway Park in Grass Valley, OR....middle of nowhere, like a fun back road with no speed limit, using the natural contours of the land to create some amazing cambered and off cambered corners, lots of hills, blind corners, and a series of esses known as the half pipe. Enjoy!

Clockwise is the easier "driving school" orientation.

Counter Coockwise is the competition direction.

Been on that track a few times with Palatov Motorsports. They’re out there on the 10th I believe, to test their race cars. Good folks. I know the Justesen Ranches owners and they’ve got Airbnb sites all over Wasco and Sherman county so you want to stay with them if you overnight it.
I got sent OOT for work otherwise I would be there myself this week and then Bend for the meet up on Saturday.
The last turn before the pit in clockwise is a tricky one!

Another track day….couldn't quite keep up with the GT3RS's or the McLaren, but it was fun to try!

Thanks for sharing. Looks like a nice track. What mods do you have on your car?

DANG IT MAN! I was JUST out there this weekend down at Shaniko Ranch and I drove right through GV Friday and Sunday.
My local buddies said there was an event there but I didn't check the forums.

Looks like you were running well under 2 minutes on those laps!

Best was 1:58.68 on a new set of RA1's, shaved and heat cycled. I have a 1:58.62 once on RA1's last year also when they were pretty new, but my best lap ever was 1:57.29 (!!!) on Goodyear Supercar 3R's about two months ago. They definitely have more grip but unfortunately I delaminated 4 of 6 tires in 1 weekend and won't dare buy another set. Back to the RA1's which give me about 6 days rotating through 6 tires and don't seem to need any TLC at all.

I think I could have improved more yesterday but there was an asphalt issue that required them to cone off a section of the front straight in the afternoon which added a little time.

I'll be at The Ridge Tuesday 9/14 for a Turn2 "Late Apexing" day which is 5 sessions from 3-8. Do it!

Cool track.
Great driving, it's not about having the fastest car on the day it's a case of who has the biggest smile. It looked great fun to push.

Do you think a DCT would make your car considerably faster?

It isn't an option, so its purely hypothetical . . . i think the work of driving would be easier, particularly in braking zones, but I shift pretty quickly and the monster mid-range torque allows me to corner in a higher gear and avoid many downshifts.

I guess I was obscurely asking, with your frequent track visits, if you thought a DCT would make a big difference for you... I mean BMW put one in the M3 GTS.

I actually think a DCT swap into 1M might be easy, considering it came on the Z4 35is and 2011+ 135i. You would simply need the shifter/paddles/wheel from M3, DCT from Z4/135i, and driveshaft/diff from a 135i (obviously retrofitted with proper LSD)... some wiring and coding. That said, the cooler for the DCT kills a clean swap, since cooling is already an issue for the oil.

I have an M2cs with DCT, but it will be a while before it goes to the track. I figure when the 1M is ready to retire from track duty, the CS will take over and my left foot can retire too.
