Tire Rack | $588 for Continental ExtremeContact DW

I was shopping for tires and noticed the Conti ExtremeContact DW tires are on sale at Tire Rack for $588 + shipping. The consensus here seems to be that PSS (what I'm currently running) is the way to go for the best all-around tire, but at half the cost, I decided to buy the Continentals for street / daily driving use and thought I'd share the info in case others are interested.

I ran two sets of DW's on my Speed6 which was putting just over 400hp to the ground. Found them to be a great tire, very well behaved in both wet and dry, and probably better than the PSS in the wet.

I found them to be short lived however, seeing only about 18k miles out of a set, both times, despite regular rotating and reasonably conservative alignment. Solid aggressive driving style and 3-4 autocrosses on each set, so almost any tire would have been short lived...

Still, sticky and fun, would recommend

There was a set on my car wen I bought it. Had decent tread left. Loud as hell on the road!!!

Very nice to drive hard on though.

Here is a question I think I know the answer to:
How would they compare to RE71r's for autocross?
Would they at least compare to RE11/Rival/Rs3/AD08r?

DW's are a great high performance street tire like PSS but I doubt they will hold up to track use unless in the wet. Rival/RS3/AD08R are another class of performance greater (I think Tire rack calls these the extreme summer vs max)

This is a little bit of a threadjack but on the topic of tire sales, eBay DiscountTireDirect (DTD) has 275/35/18 Nitto NT01s for $720 shipped. That is absolutely bonkers.
