There's another thread about this subject as well: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1642472

Post 9 has a link where you can enter your VIN and see if it applies to you.

Looks like it does for me - 2011 135i. Meh, time spent taking the car to the dealer, them removing and reinstalling things that'll potentially cause squeaks and rattles, potentially damage the seat (they put some scratches in the leather when they did the airbag recall, I presume they sat parts or tools on it) to fix something that is highly unlikely to ever actually be an issue. Hmm I may have just talked myself out of it.

I talked to my local dealer, and he reassured me that my '13 wasn't part of the recall.

Another recall due to degrading electrical components? .......... I guess that's what happens when you try to cut costs in the wrong places. Thanks BMW

Got mine done today. It is only for 2008-2012 Models Years (07-11 build years). Attached is the TSB with repair procedure and pictures that shows the checklist and what needs to be replaced; the blower motor, the long harness, the short harness or a combination thereof based upon the condition of the wires.

Not yet. It will eventually. Our 13's have the same connector that is being replaced.

Just got mine done this morning. Said I had the short wire so it took less time and it's just behind glove box so I wasn't worried about removing the dash and ending up with more cracks and squeaks.

With their "inspection" and the recall I was in and out of dealership in an hour. I always opt out of the wash.

Mine took all of 30 minutes this morning. The dealer SA confirmed that this has been performed on 5-series and 3-series for months... finally trickling down to the 1-series. They have done hundreds of them.

Peace... Mack

Mine goes tomorrow. For the blower motor, PCV heater and I am going to ask them to fix the main power lead to the fuse box.

Not sure that last one is an actual recall. But it should be.

And alignment of my M3 control arms....

I have a 2012 that I'm pretty sure was built in 2011, but the BMW VIN lookup says I don't have a recall. May have to look back at the records and see when mine was actually built.

Edit: mine is a August 2011 build, so its interesting I don't have a recall.

LOL. My "2012" 135i was built in April 2011. Whatever.
Got my recall notice this week.
Wish me luck at the awful local dealer.

Dealer did the blower wiring recall service.
Also tried to sell me a $180 alignment service.
They do an alignment analysis and tire check in every vehicle that enters the service bay.
Gotta pay for all that glass and tile and free coffee and high priced help somehow.

My fan wires and PCV valve are done! Had a coupon for a good deal on the alignment.

Main power lead and fuse box fixed per recall as well.

Mine got done yesterday, bmw Atlantic city. I called them, was scheduled fast and was in and out quickly. Was looking at an m8, maybe in 10 years I can grab one of those for under $10k lol.
But they were very nice and did the work fast. I went over to the parts dept and was talking about bmw performance exhaust, he told me there were only 14 left in the country and after they are gone they are gone for good. It was an $800+ pricetag. Something to think about

I snagged one of the last 128i PE's. Not cheap, but the quality is there, and the sound is perfect. Not too loud, but aggressive. They should all sound like that from the factory. Every morning going into work, I drive through a short tunnel. I turn down the stereo, open the driver side window, and floor it in second gear. The perfect start to my day!

Hey all,

Just checked my stats and it looks like its been 5 years since my last post.

Got the recall notice today and was curious about how the work is performed. Do they need to remove the dash for this job? I dont know what's worse.....phantom squeaks and grease smears all over my savanna beige leather.....or a burning wiring harness, lol.

Mileage update....I hit 13k this summer on the 1er. Car still smells brand new. Ive been considering selling her for a few years. Maybe a few more years of depreciation, then I'll pull the trigger.

I was told they do the work under the hood, up by the windshield.

All the work is in the passenger footwell. The only thing removed is the one trim piece that covers the bottom of the blower motor. 2, T20 trim screws are removed, that's it.

And, if they are like my dealer's tech, they leave a lot of short multi-strand bits of copper wire strewn around on the floor mat. No big deal. Easy to vacuum away. At least it is proof that something happened under there.

Peace... Mack

Hopefully it's not like my dealer's tech, who laid either car parts or tools in the passenger seat while replacing the air bag and left a lot of scratch marks, that even after a bunch of work I haven't 100% been able to remove.
