I understand this is normal with the bigger tires.

I never had 17s on my 1er so nothing to compare to but it makes sense since it's obviously more unsprung weight.

Those stock wheels are kind of heavy. You need some lightweight 18's brah.

Yes, they do look good. Always liked the 264s. Classic looking OEM wheel.

But they are on the heavy side, as are most BMW wheels.

I'm in SoCal.

Wanted to add that my BMW Performance 313s are on the heavy side as well but I wouldn't part with them for the world. They're way too purdy.

Haha... you must be thinking of the Sunshine State, which is Florida. I'm in the Golden State, which is California.

I have a 17" track setup for my 135i. There's definitely a huge difference in the unsprung weight which translates to the car feeling quite different. The driving experience is much more agile and tossable with improved precision control, in my opinion.

My 17x8.5 Kosei K1R's weigh an incredible 16.8 lbs a piece.

For reference:

Style 261: Front 24.7 lbs, rear 26 lbs
Style 264: Front 24.25 lbs, rear 26.3 lbs
Style 313: Identical to style 264.

feels more stable/grounded... don't feel every freakin hole in the ground with the 264's due to the new/bigger tire.... but shit when I step on it.. it feels like my turbo is non existant..

maybe u guys can chime in on this..
17 stock oem rims right... came with the car.. ever since I bought the fucker it would pull to the right.. got it aligned at bmw.. still pulling to right.. bmw says it is due to bent rim.(wich yo ucant visually see so imo it wasn't a drasting ding/bend but whatevs)
this ofcourse justified getting 264's wich I always wanted.. found 264's with 245/45/18 tires squared.. ofcourse that rubbed.. so I had to put my 17 stocks in the front so I can go get tires put on that wouldn't rub.. over the weeknd with the 17f 18r setup.. car would drive str8 as an arrow.. at this point im like.. ahah.. the "bent" 17 stock rim was the issue.. as I was on the 18 in the rear .. follow me so far??
I then bought new tires for the 264's all around oem size.. (thanks for the help dack and esteban) and the fuckin car still pulls to the right..?? wtf... 17 square pulls to right due to "bent" rim from dealer.. I put my same 17 in the front with 245/45/18 tire of 264 I nthe rear ..drives str8... I then buy new tires for the replacement rims and get the same result.. is theyr something im missing here??
stupid question but should I switch left rear to right rear position?? and btw.. when I was getting the 264 mounted and balanced I had the guy not only visually inspect wheel for dent's but the machine has a laser wich scans lip for dents bends.. wich I first hand saw in action and machine didn't spit out any problems on all four new rims..
what gives..

Interesting, I'm really not sure what to think. It seems like initially eliminated the issue, but now either same problem is occurring or something else is taking place. It sounds like it's isolated to the wheels and tires, but have you inspected the bushings and arms that comprise the front end? That's where I'd start.

As far as swapping wheels from side to side, it's a smart idea, but the tires are likely directional which will cause other weird handling issues during your test run.

Two lane roads are angled to the right for water drainage. On a divided highway, the left lane is angled left and the right is angled right. So the car won't go straight on most any road unless the angle is very small.

when it was running smooth with the Frankenstein setup.. on a left lane sloped left (like u say for the water run off) I could feel the steering wheel at 0 degree and car driving str8..
now since it pulls to right I basically drive holding the fucker to the left..
the weird shit is.. I thought the 264's fixed the issue . .but now the issue is back with the 264s all around..
if you think about it guys.. the only difference besides obviously the 17r and 18r .. is with that setup.. the car is tipped forward.. 18 264 square the ride is level... I was speculating if maybe theirs a issue with the shock .. maybe play with the pivot point back n forth.. like the caster?? or whatever.. maybe theirs something broken or loose.. gonna have to look at a diagram of our cars setup theyr.. giving the weight is being pushed forward due to the 17 f and 18 r .. maybe the weight behind the wheel is keeping whatevers loose or broken in position.. speculation .. wat u think?

Turn trac control off and retest.

What I've experienced is that the car takes 500 miles or so to relearn when a different size tire/wheel (rolling diameter) is used. Turning the trac off should remove any brake interaction and correction.
