I took a picture of the tire holding an envelope against the fender liner and sent that to my dealer. I also e-mailed the link to this thread. If you are close enough to South Bend Indiana take your car there. Basney BMW.

My dealer acknowledges the bulletin--they state they will happily replace the liners under warranty but cannot locate any of the remaining upgraded liners. They do have the part number. Does anyone have any rec's on where we can physically locate the upgraded liners?
Thanks in advance,
Vivek

Last month I tried to have them do it a second time before warranty runs out. Here's what my service advisor said:
"as far as the fender liner issue there is not open puma case with that number or tsb related to that issue i know in the past we replaced that part as a one time goodwill gesture which is where the dealership pays for the part."

I assumed all the liners available by now are the new design. I just ordered two sets (one for me and one for a buddy). Is it possible we will be getting the old style??

Update. Ordered a couple sets from Getbmwparts.com and they came in with the updated design. Took less than a week from time of order.

Does the replacement only take effect if the car is under warranty? My service advisor at BMW told me that my car isn't under warranty therefore I cannot make the claim. Before I take things further, I just wanted to be sure.

In my case, it didn't even work while mine was under warranty and I gave up and bought it myself

They could of course do it under a dying principal called 'good will' but don't bet too much on it.

To be fair; your car is far from being 100% stock, in a good way

And if I remember right you had Trofeo Rs which are very fat tires. Stock cars with stock size PS2 and PSS won't rub or very slightly at worst.

Reporting: Just put my new PSS 255/275 set in. I had the modified fender liners installed before. I am with stock wheels/suspension and stock ride height and only very slightly different camber at front. No spacers as well.

Nothing rubs now. It used to rub slightly with stock size PSS and with old liners.

Hi everyone, just read this entire thread cause I also have rubbing with my oem winter setup, just like most of you.
Asked my dealer, he said that nothing appears on his BMW computer system about a Puma Case concerning this.
So tried to give him all informations packed to have this replacement.
Also want to improve to 255/275.
Let you know guys....

Some reported that some dealers first told them that they're not aware of this issue because the part # are still the same. Few initially even denied retrieving the PuMA in their system until the 1M owner quoted them the PuMA #.

Fender liners are definitely "optimized". The replacement is not invoiced. No paper trail.
Q: "Ah, so resolving the fender liners problem on my car was free of charge ?"
A: "What problem ?" + tongue in cheek smile of dealer.

Likely explanation of the issue: the "indent zone" of the fender liner should be sitting a little lower, more particularly in the tire versus fender liner "contact zone". Could be an indication that BMW 1M test mules may have had less ground clearance (different suspension height ? 18" wheels ?) than the spec of the 1M that went into production in the end ? 1M's sitting a little lower (which had a suspension 'drop') might be less prone to the issue.

Maybe a bit late to purchase these at a decent price. Currently they are showing approx. $70 per side.
Anyone find any better pricing. My local dealer won't replace unless I pay $125 CDN per side.
