Headers and O2 sensors
Recently, as of yesterday morning, whenever I start up my car it throws a check engine light shortly after and idles rough. If I shut it off, clear the CEL and crank it back up, light stays off and car runs fine. The code it's throwing is o2 sensor bank 2. I'm wondering if headers have just finally eaten away at the sensors and it's times to replace? My car has 101k miles and have the AA headers installed since 2017. There is approximately 30k miles on them on the headers. I also just got a revamped tune from Stage FP. They added a burble and the car back fires really hard. Has the flame destroyed the o2 sensors?

Burble tune is absolutely going to cause issues with the O2 sensors. I still don’t get why people fuckin love burbles. It sounds like the car is broken.

BTW, I hate the burbles too. I cut back my stock burble times by 50%. They just drive me crazy. Don't like the extra noise and the rumble under the floorboards drive me crazy. |

Im sure some degree of them is tolerable but to make it sound like gunshots by dumping extra fuel during the exhaust cycle isn’t going to do anything good for the sensor. The sensors are very sensitive and I would imagine the momentary heat/cooling cycle of igniting additional fuel in the header tubes isn’t going to be good for the sensor at all. Do that over and over and over at high RPM and you’re bound to abuse arguably the most critical sensors in the control loop.
