I've done some playing around based on what people have posted here and in the Apple support forums.
Here's what I found: - Turning off 3G doesn't make a difference (and you can't do it during a call anyway). - Turning off data roaming didn't make a difference (because it was already off for me). - Turning the bluetooth volume on the handset all the way up does reduce the echo, but doesn't eliminate it. It does make it tolerable to have a conversation though. Still hoping for a software/firmware fix. amy! |

Echoing Bluetooth
Guys and gals,
Try setting your sound type on the radio to ROCK. Of the three choices, one has a reverb effect that affected our iphone as well. When we changed to ROCK mode, the echo went away...plus all music sounded much better. Just keep pushing the radio button with the MUSICAL NOTE icon. Good luck |

So people are still having issues with the iPhone 3G? I haven't got one yet but still thinking about it. Maybe I'll just get a second hand old one. I'd be really annoyed if it echoed because my old Ericsson works perfectly with the bluetooth.

My iPhone 3G 16Gig has worked perfectly since day one.
No echo problem at all... at all... at all... at all... I suspect the echo problem... echo problem... echo problem... echo problem... is not the iPhone... the iPhone... the iPhone... the iPhone, but possibly an audio setting... setting... setting... setting.

Echo went away with 2.1 firmware on my end. Have you tried a restore?

Mine echos, I have the latest iphone software (3g). It works OK for a few minutes and then starts echoing. Also the mic sucks, if I am going to use it for more than a few minutes i'll wait until i get out of the car or just use the phone to my ear.
