BMW of Honolulu
I just want to say that since I stopped by BMW of Honolulu a little less than a month ago I couldn't have been happier. It all started mid-deployment when I started hearing news about a new series being released in the U.S. As I learned more about the 1 series, the 135i in particular I slowly, but surely became infatuated with this car. Never before have become so obsessed with something I didn't even own or for that matter even witness first hand. Something about the 1 just captivated me. Anyway at first I inquired through BMW Military Sales, but the sales person there wasn't exactly informative and made me feel like he was shoving alot of smoke up a not so nice place I decided to wait until I returned to Hawaii to inquire further about the car, its specs, pricing, and options. In the meantime awaiting for our return I started e-mailing the dealership, speaking to the manager of new car sales to be specific and he was very upfront with me and incredibly informative. On the day I actually step foot in the dealership I was just amazed by the ambience of the dealership. I knew I was there to inquire about the 1er, but I couldn't help but become sidetracked by cars in the BMW lineup that also interested me. These cars were the 335i coupe, M3, and Z4 coupe. It was rather interesting as I was accompanied by a friend and though random it was great that he asked because he got to test drive the M3 and I the 135i. After finally sitting down with a sales rep and just getting down to business I was just really impressed that for one I paid my car at MSRP being optioned with the following and not topping $42K: Black Sapphire Metallic paint, Black Leatherette, High Gloss Black trim, Sports Package, Steptronic Transmission with Paddle Shifters, Premium Hi-Fi Stereo, USB/iPod system, BMW Assist, and Park Distance Control. It has been barely over two weeks since I ordered my one and it is now already awaiting transport! It was originally scheduled for a mid-October production date, but my sales rep was able to secure me a spot (possibly from someone who cancelled their purchase). So with transport time and it being transported to a VDC it should be here as early as November and as late as Christmas! I am just so amazed and glad to have done business with BMW of Honolulu. All the staff there are incredible, perhaps it has something to do with the famous Hawaiian attitude, but I am sold!:wub::roundel::respekt:

Glad to hear that your experience with BMW of Honolulu went as well as mine. I ordered mine on April 1st and received it in June. Make sure you stop in the boutique and talk to Francine. She's a great help if you're looking for things like car covers and BMW performance parts.
We'll have to get together after you take delivery and go for a trip around the island! Now I just wish you all the strength in the world to make it through the hardest part of your life...waiting for it to arrive! |

I am glad both of yours went better then mine. I went down there to avtually just see the 135i as i had not because i am deployed. I told the sales guy that i would probably do MSP because I am deployed. He then told me he could not help out the competition but I was free to look around. It is not like they were real busy and he did not take the time to answer any of the questions that I had. Oh well the will be servicing the competition's BMW for well under MSRP and the Hawaii markup. I have not had any problems there in the past with getting parts for my other Bimmer.

Sorry to hear about that Who did you speak to? I spoke to one of the ladies and she was really nice, informative, and helpful. Regardless its nice that you are going through Military Sales, that's the route I had originally intended, but by that time my deployment was already near its end so I didn't have the time or funds at the moment to secure an order. Its sad because back in June it was really hard to find a spot available for an '08 "Year One of the One" 135i. If you are opting for iDrive the new screen setup from what I hear is much better, though I chose not to opt for it. Hopefully our new '09 models will have all the little discrepancies taken care of, but what car out there today doesn't? Well take care and glad to see you'll be getting a 1er I am still waiting for mine to leave the port in Europe .

I didn't bother with the hassles of MSP. It was just so convenient to go to the dealership...besides...there are no markups for Hawaii (I was surprised.) I paid exactly MSRP for the vehicle and the delivery charges are the same regardless of location. I dealt with Keith Chow and he was more than happy answer my questions and stay well after store hours on multiple occasions. The markups on aftermarket products are a little ridiculous and what they charge for labor is absurd but I still love the dealership.

Dont get me wrong, I do like the dealership. I just do not like the way that I was blew off when I went in to inquire about the 1. I have had no problems with people in parts or service with my heavily modded 325i. I also love the free cappuccinos. I will deal with the small extra hassle of military sales to save a few thousand. On a side note for a more local crowd check out the Hawaii section on bimmerforums.com

I'll be at the SCCA Solo event at Aloha Stadium on Sunday. Rumor has it that there will be another 1 owner there too (haven't met him yet.) It's a shame that it's on the wrong island for you!

I'll be there with my 09 Space Gray 135i +JB3 for those that have yet to see JB3 in action, so long as the military shippers don't drop my car in the ocean enroute from Kansas to Hawaii.

I'd join you guys, but the most unfortunate thing happened last Friday. I dinged my door in Waikiki trying to park it, it will be fixed by the end of the week through Central Body & Repair. I'd go, but I will be in wonderful Australia for three weeks and won't be back in Hawaii until mid March. Keep me posted on when the next meet will be. Where do you guys go to find out scheduled meets by the way?

Most of the time I am on Bimmerforums.com in the Hawaii section. I also know that there is a small group of guys on e90 post. It seems like bf.c is the melting pot though.

Car is fixed, had carbon fiber spoiler installed and seriously considering carbon fiber diffuser and performance exhaust when I return in March. Car's exhaust note is nice, but only when you punch it, want to get rid of that resonator and let it sing!
