Secondary cat delete question
I'm kind of a noob but my exhaust is a little quieter than I want it to be and I want to fix that. My question is if I buy the Supersprint section 1 cat delete can I pass smog since I'm in California. If not, is there a way I can swap out the cat delete pipe for the secondary cats when it comes to a smog test? Any information is helpful.

Do a muffler delete. I have one and its great. Dead silent if you're just trying to cruise at light throttle, but will liven up if you gas it.
The fact you're in Cali makes it way bigger of a pain in the ass than it needs to be to remove/reinstall the cats yearly.

Deleting the secondary cats doesn't really do much for the loudness of the exhaust except when WOT. Plus I felt in deleting them I lost some HP and Tq down low. That's why when I installed my PE I reinstalled my N54 midpipe. I had been using the N55 midpipe.
IF you want more noises... just but a PE before BMW stops selling them! Its the best money you can spend on these cars other than a SSK and a CDV delete. I wrote about my thoughts on the N55 midpipe here... DIY installing N55 mid pipes on a N54... http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=797160 Dackel
