"Sound Generator" attached to my charge pipe

Hi all,

Just replacing my stock plastic charge pipe, and then I found this... What is attached to the charge pipe? It made disconnecting the sensor wire really difficult.

Surprisingly it is a BMW part (see second photo). But seems to have been partially removed (see cut pipe end). BMW search seems to indicate it is a "sound generator". looks like it just pipes charge pipe noise to cabin?

Never seen or heard of it, but it seems to be a legitimate part for the E82 N54 MSport... Is this an Australia/Euro only thing? Anyway any more info would be good.

I had one attached to my factory charge pipe as well. I don’t think any factory part ever got chucked into the trash can so quickly.

Just sends noise towards the firewall. Mine had one too. No issues with the simpler metal aftermarket pipes and they won't break on you.
