This feature is part of the comfort access package. If you have the power folding mirrors, it can be coded. The passenger mirror will be the only one that tilts.

Not sure about the accuracy of this. I definitely do not have comfort access and my passenger mirror does tilt in reverse, only with the driver side is selected on the door switch.

I don't think so. My bro's 335i has them without comfort access package. From what I've read it seems you need power seats to have the tilting mirrors. But I think I will try to program this. We all have a motor that is capable of tilting the mirror down. |

I wish my '09 135i passenger mirror tilted down in reverse! My mother's 2001 X5 passenger mirror did and Ive been wondering why my newer BMW's does not. Since the front air dam is so low backing in has become a must. My car doesn't have iDrive so i have no backup cam or sensors and I never used to back in any of my previous cars so needless to say its quite a chore. For now I have my passenger mirror adjusted very low all the time but its harder to see cars in my blind spot....oh well lol

Well I have partial power seats, this means that for moving them back and forward I need to do it manually but up and down they have power adjustment the problem is that my passenger mirror won´t tilt down no matter what the position on my power mirror control is set to. ANY IDEAS.

Mine wouldn't work for a while and I thought I didn't have it. I got it to work by adjusting the mirror while in reverse. I think I flipped the switch to the passenger side, shifted into reverse, and then I moved the mirror down. When I put it in 1st gear, it went back up. IDK if that will work for everyone, but it seems the PO had adjusted it to basically not move. No clue to be honest. It's also possible it got enabled when I last used NCS Expert, but I did not code it on purpose if that's what it was...

I thought this was programmable using the stalk that is used to check the vitals of the car (oil, service, etc). My car did not do it at first but I was able to configure the feature to work.

RTFM everyone. If you car has it (or was coded to do it), it will only tilt down if the mirror switch is on the drivers side. To turn off reverse tilt down, switch it to the passenger side control. If that doesn't work, you don't have the feature enabled.

RTFM is great except with my car, I've had weird situations where the tilt down function didn't work regardless of which position the mirror switch was set. Then, it would work if I had the switch set on the passenger side. And then it would work normally with the switch on the driver's side. I've reported this issue to the dealer when my car was in for service before and they were unable to figure out what was going on.

the passenger mirror is supposed to tilt down.
if the mirror does not tilt down, flick the switch that controls which side mirror you adjust. one position stops it from tilting down. |

It's not that simple always. In my case, my tilt was not working in the driver's position. I am not sure exactly what I did, but now it does work as described in the manual. It did not work for the first few weeks I had the car. And I previously had an E46 with the same function so I was not doing something wrong. Something was setup wrong or my programming out the TPMS reset something with the mirror.

Mine doesn't work even though it's set to arrive in NCS expert already (I checked tonight) and the switch controls are to the left as it should be. I really miss this feature.
The car is a 2012 135i DCT with manual seats, no auto-dimming side mirrors (the rear view mirror is auto-dimming however). It seems some of you have this feature even with manual seats so what gives here?

Try putting it in reverse, moving the switch to the passenger side, then adjusting the mirror down. Put it back in neutral or park or drive, whatever, and see if it goes back up.
