Thumbs up NEW HPF FERAMIC CLUTCH for the 135i/335i - SNEAK PEAK

Hey everyone. There's been a ton of demand for the 135i/335i clutch as the power everyone is making keeps going up and we keep getting asked for a daily driveable clutch that can handle all the power. We have been working with our clutch manufacturer to come up with a 135i/335i clutch similar to our highly rated HPF Feramic Supra and BMW M3 clutches and it is now completed. This clutch has the same smooth engaging material as our other clutches but still has an extremely high melting point, 1200 degrees F, so it will never fuse. The amazing thing about these single disk clutches is that they have held over 1,000rwhp without sacrificing driveability. Most customers won't even know it's an aftermarket clutch. The pedal effort provides a nice crisp feel and is slightly stiffer but very stock like.

HPF CLUTCH LOAD RATINGS
  • FACTORY - 1800 lbs
  • HPF FERAMIC Stg 1 - 2500 lbs - 750rwhp
  • HPF FERAMIC Stg 2 - 2600 lbs - 800rwhp
  • HPF FERAMIC Stg 3 - 2680 lbs - 900rwhp
All stages use the same clutch disk and the engagement will feel almost identical.

I was hoping to have videos today of Tim Mineo driving around with this clutch in his 135i, but we had the wrong clutch alignment tool. Next week we will have this installed in his car and he can post up his feedback.

Here's a picture.

HPF Stage 1 FERAMIC CLUTCH for the BMW 135i/335i

Here's a video of the HPF clutch in an "SMG" M3 from one of our customers. It shows how smooth the engagement is.

Here's another video of the HPF clutch in another M3.

Nice work, Chris. HPF seems to be doing a good job of looking after the n54 market.

Cool... now how about you guys finish up the BOV/charge pipe, I'm sure alot more people would have use for it compared to these clutches.

Wouldn't surprise me if they called this a Beta clutch version and never really put one out.

Thanks. We'll have an "installation" video and a driveability video for our first customer this week.

Chris.

Installation should be complete today and hopefully the rain goes away and we can properly test this out! I cant wait!

They will also have upgraded flywheel option etc. This will be very nice and needed for the turbo kit!

HPF Chris, can you address the charge pipe/BOV situation?

I just have to have it made. I will have Josh send out the specs to some foundries for both the BOV pipe and the Intake manifold.

Yes please, get this done and price it appropriately (like the FMIC, unlike the catch can).

This is why I think they should focus on parts that people would buy, like charge pipes!

I think it will be very reasonable, their stage 1-2 clutch for the E46 M3, is under $1100

Prototype #1 is virtually perfect. The clutch engagement and feel are amazingly smooth. Clutch pedal pressure is approximately 25% stiffer. This first prototype we found the clutch thickness to be off just a bit. Despite being nearly 100% perfect, as par for HPF, until it is PERFECT it doesnt go out. We are going to be testing #2 soon which the clutch will be shaved down a bit.

1st gear starts in traffic, up hills where smooth with no chatter. Reverse in parking lot was OE. This is a VERY smooth clutch and couldnt believe an aftermarket clutch could actually be so smooth. I have always been hesitant with swapping clutches, but not with this one.

All in all this thing is freaking sweet. What I love about my car is that it gets me to work comfortably and is a beast on the track. This clutch didnt negatively effect the smoothness or drivability of the car and will withstand to the increase power and usage on the track.
