More like the Battlestar Galactica reboot, where Starbuck is a woman and Colonel Tigh is a whino.

When Gen-X directors get their mitts on a classic movie/show, it is possible that they will turn it into an anti-war platform...with Maverick questioning his gender choice and refusing to fly because the jet exhaust and sonic booms damage the environment.....

I’m a fan of the original, but why release a trailer if it won’t hit theaters for another year? We’ve waited thirty years, what’s one more?

a few articles on the internet are already criticizing this new film with inaccuracies... the first film was awfully inaccurate but it was still one of the best films of all times. From seeing the trailer and reading a few articles it appears they did alot of the filming in actual real time. The Navy of the 80s was somewhat reluctant to allow flexibility with filming so I think this time around the thought process has changed quite a bit. I mean what better way to promote folks wanting to join the Navy when seeing Tom Cruiser onscreen flying around in E/F Super Hornets.
the F14 has to have some plot twist in it where its likely an adversary since it has been out of service since 2006.. still the baddest jet the Navy has had in service.. that and its predecessor.. the F4.

The DoD and Navy participated in this film. They had advisors and will pre-screen to ensure no restricted or classified systems are shown. They also were on set to work with the directors on a much realism as possible.

I think it will be very well done.
