IIRC, the 1er has Logic 7 as an available option in other markets, but not the US. The screen shots came courtesy of Paul in Australia. I asked a BMW product specialist during press days at the Chicago Auto Show if the stereo (base or premium) was Logic 7 and the answer was NO.

We also know that the Premium HiFi option includes some flavor of DSP. Whether it's actually Logic7 DSP or something else, and if it's something else how it's different than Logic7, well... :iono: |

Where on the website does it reference the Logic 7 for the 135i? I must have missed it (or as my wife would tell me, "you looked everywhere, and yet it took me a second to find it!" ; -)

Nevermind, I found it - in the Model Highlights.
I hate to tell y'all this but there's no guarantee that it'll be Logic 7 - if you go to the 'Features & Specs' Logic 7 isn't mentioned. If you go to build your own and select premium audio, Logic 7 is not mentioned. We have gotten so much conflicting info about this - now where's the 'Oil Cooler' thread . . . ; -) |

Logic7 Audio System It's a sound experience as remarkable as the BMW driving experience. Unlike traditional stereo systems, Logic7 routes two-channel (stereo) sound through a seven-channel playback matrix to create 360-degree Surround Sound. The anti-theft AM/FM stereo CD/MP3 player audio system includes 13 upgraded speakers (including 2 subwoofers), Digital Sound Processing (DSP), Radio Data System (RDS), Auto-Store and 3-channel FM diversity antenna, and it displays MP3 song title and artist. |

I read this as 135 specific but they may have meant it as generic, or for other markets. The debate goes on. |

I've decided to wait till next year to get my 1 for this very reason.
When I'm ready I want to know the answers to all these questions. So, how do I actually find out whether it's the Logic 7 or not. I have a friend who will take posession of his 135 in Spartanburg next month...is there some way he will know???

On my current car, in the iDrive menu, when setting the tone/bass/treble on one screen, there's an electronic equalizer on another, and then another screen titled "Logic 7", where you define the spacial mode you want it to be set at (or off).
I think we'll find out immediately after these start being driven in the US, next week, as the dealer demos arrive. |

^ If we knew for sure it was Logic 7 then I'd say yes. Even though it was unclear when I ordered, I still opted for the premium radio with the hopes it was better than the previous HK units I had in my past M3's.

I was under the understanding from an earlier thread that it WAS Logic 7 if you got the Nav, but some lesser form of DSP without the EQ if you don't.

Nope - not what I was told in Chicago - no Logic 7 for the 1er, regardless of options. But there is so much conflicting information on BMW's website that who knows; I'm not really sure they do. ; -)

The Premium HI-FI consists of 4-1.5" tweeters, 4-4" mid/woofers, 2-8" subwoofers under the front seats, all speakers have upgraded metal cones, a 300 watt multi channel DSP amp all engineered by Harmon Kardon. I think now it might be worth $875 here in the USA. I guess taking a favorite CD to the dealer to compare will answer the question.
