Is it true that you have to turn on the steering wheel every time you start your car? I think that is what I read in the manual...that would be kinda a PITA.

Would be cool if you could buy the center display portion without the wheel and mount it in the ashtray... I like the digital readout of the coolant and oil temps.

Yes it is... but it's not that big a deal.... also keep in mind: if the wheel is too hot it will not turn on.

Nooo guy! LOL...I think he means that once you have already STARTED the car THEN you have to turn on the performance steering wheel...It will work like a normal steering wheel if you dont turn it on(the lights and meters and stuff)

I guess it would become pretty routine after a while...how quick is the boot up time?

...what is too hot...I live in Hotlanta...there is no such thing as a cool steering wheel in the summer

boot up time is about 2sec. as for the "too hot" situation, if the car is left in direct sunlight for a couple hours ...(usually) the steering wheel will not engage when you turn it on until it cools.

Anyone have any idea of the labor hours involved in this at a dealership? Would like to get a rough estimate at least of what I might have to pay.

The book time is 1.5hrs but i wouldn't expect to be charged any less than 3

It's still an accessory so cost of installation is not included. Read the fine print.
