"I Accept" on Nav - Annoying?
Hi guys,
I am assuming that those of us who have Nav all have the damned "I Accept" stupid pro-lawyer screen that will not go away (unlike the 320i loaner I had)? Anyone complained to their dealer about it? It drives me nuts and is, I assume, the reason that the display ALWAYS opens up on ignition on even when set not to.

Only Australia and America I think. We don't get it in Europe. No nanny state here.

When I first got the car I could have sworn the nav stayed close on ignition. Then it would pop up all the time, sometimes 10 seconds after ignition. Ended up taking to dealership. In the end they told me it's because of the accept screen.
This is the thread with everything I discovered about the problem. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11148

SimonB my Bus Nav warning goes away after a few secs. In fact 9 times out of 10 the message has disappeared before I've finished putting on my seat belt.
The bong that always chimes immediately for the seat belt warning is far more annoying. Previous 1er didn't do that immediately. My getting process has always been start car to warm up ASAP, put on seatbelt and then drive off. I've found myself putting on the belt first cause of the bl00dy bong!

Just be thankful "ACCEPT" is not followed by "Are you sure you wish to ACCEPT? Yes/No"
Simon - Maybe ours doesn't go away after a few seconds because we have Pro Nav?

And that means we're more likely to a) drive along with attention 100% on the screen or b) more likely to sue?

We'll see if BMW like the threat of "I ran into the wall because the PDC didn't show up and I spilt boiling coffee all over myself and am now infertile, give me $5M." As if.

This is my principle gripe with the Pro Nav system. Thought I had solved the issue when found link in settings to deactivate safety warning. The car can then be turned off and on without the message returning. You beauty, thought I had solved the problem but no, get out the car and the damn thing returns. Sneaky huh.

It is a PITA! My E92 does the same thing as the 1. It just becomes a habit, get in hit "start" then hit the iDrive gizmo button. You get used to it (not that you should). I think it is an ADR in Oz, like noit being able to watch TV when driving.
Speaking of TV, it really p1sses me off that you spend over $4k for the Nav and miss out on the TV, didn't realise it wasn't included till we asked the dealer at delivery time to demo it. Crap! |

TV thing doesn't bother me. Who wants to watch the morning chat shows on the way to work anyway? At home time who wants to watch Bold and the Beautiful et al?
And on that note, who has nearly piled into the car in front or strayed out of their lane whilst choosing music? A better solution would been to have HUD.

lovemywhip, give us some credit, huh? It's not in my car, it stays on for as long as you don't push the 'enter' button. I wouldn't be winging if it was "5 seconds tops".

For others who may not have downloaded it: "NOTE ON NAV CODING USA and Australian users can eliminate the annoying "Accept" screen by setting the region to any other region apart from USA or Australia. I use the Europe region." Also: "I-BUS PHYSICAL INTERFACE A physical connection from your PC/laptop to the vehicle's I-Bus is required. The author built the SimpleInterface2 - see the enclosed "SimpleInterface2.jpg" file for a circuit diagram. "
