Got the letter from BMW NA about belt tensioner recall
Honestly, I wasn't too concerned about the HPFP problems, phantom radio noises, software update lag issues, new oil change restrictions or recalling the tail lamps......
But now I got this stupid letter in the mail telling me I need to waste another morning, bringing the car back to the dealer AGAIN, so they can hack up my cars interior. Im so neurotic about my cars, I dont even like to bring them to the dealership, unless absolutely necessary. Now these guys are gonna start hacking up my pillars and getting pry marks everywhere. Not to mention greasy hand prints all over my savannah beige leather, even with the plastic seat cover. they always do, no matter how much I complain before they start. plus, if they have to work on the pillar, you know the whole job will be performed with them sitting on my bolster, stretching out the stitching, and if im lucky, their keychain hanging off their belt digging into my leather. If this fix doesnt go smoothly this time, Im officially done with BMW. Ive been driving BMW's for 12 years, bikes & cars, and they are slowly losing me as a customer.

Ditto on your pains and aches.
Save yourself, and not have it done. Im going in for my annual oil change in 2 weeks. I'm going to wait for the oil change, "IF" they say something about this seatbelt recall, I'm gonna tell them i had it done at another dealership a few weeks ago.....This seatbelt issue is a non-issue for me. I have not seen/heard anyone on here going up in flames.

I guess any recall activities are voluntary. You may decline them. Why I did tail lamps it is just because I had some other minor problem I wanted to be fixed. So certainly this belt problem won’t bring me to a dealer, unless I decide finally change a battery in my FOB.

If I didn't haul around my little cousin from time to time in the 1er, I wouldn't have had it done, I don't mind taking the risk myself... but when it comes to a little kid I'm not comfortable.

If your car goes to the dealer for any reason they are going to perform the recall whether you like it or not and I believe they have a legal obligation to do so. They did my tail light recall without saying a peep when I had it in for the HPFP failure.

It's really not a big deal. Took them about an hour or two to get mine done.
I imagine they're tracking this by VIN in some database online, so I doubt you'd be able to convince them it was done somewhere else if it wasn't. Seriously, though, it's just not even worth worrying about. You MUST have bigger problems than this.

Be sure to look at the photo album of crash pictures on the photos tab. Especially this one: http://www.ocregister.com/news/crash...bmw.html?pic=3 I'm sure it would be a non-issue for you or any passengers you might have in your car if you got into a serious accident and couldn't get out of the car before help arrived. |

Por una parte tiene razon, siempre que se lleva el coche a la revisión por mucho que pongan papel en el asiento siempre dejan alguna marca, roce, mancha de grase, etc...
Siendo que es una buena marca, tambien tendrían que tener buen servício |

"The cause of the crash is under investigation."
Either texting or still applying makeup considering she was still within the gated community when she took out that tree with her 128 vert. Don't need Columbo for this one. |
