Subaru keeps bringing ugly back. The size of the front overhang damn.
I think I have seen that front fender on the batmobile.

Mr Roboto, think of a Subaru as a 911... Backwards

Nothing they can do about that front overhang unless they mount mid-engine, it's a vestige of the boxer design. Same reason Porsche can't move the 911's Boxer inboard of the axle.

Now if you're willing to live with only two seats - then the boxer design is extraordinary in mid-engine form (Boxster, Cayman)

But Subaru has a history with , ahem, *special* design. Behold the wonder of the Subaru 360 - the car HQ clearly intends to forget. It put the CLOWN in Clown Car. (Sorry, I couldn't resist; it's just so easy to pick on this car ; -)

In case you buy a oner, FYI, the 3er can fit 285's rear and 245 front without rolling with the right offset, with zero rub. I run 275/245

Clown Car is right

Subaru has no design language of their own, and have been searching for one as of late. Who knows where they'll end up.

Nice. Too bad you can't fit wider in the front, 275/275 would be great.

No one knows. I'm not sure if BMW reduced tire size on the 1 (vs the 3) due to clearance... or more "distancing" of the models. Let's hope the latter.

It's all specualtion at this point. My bet would be 275/245. On the 3er you can run 255 front if you roll, or 255 front without rolling with rub only at full turn, depending on the offset you choose. I don't might rubbing on the front if it's only at full turn simply because you will very rarely rub. I think we can run 255's all round for track days with the oner. I don't mind rolling though. So I might try for 265 all round.

Keep in mind, if you lower the vehicle with springs, coilovers, etc, by even one inch, all of these sizes will be reduced by about 10mm.

To each his/her own I guess but they are definitely not for me.
to be honest, i doubt he saw it that way. his mind was probably saying "man all those suckers paid top dollar for cars that will run 2 seconds behind my laps at the track tomorrow"

that is definitely photoshopped. the charcoal grey one in the japanese scans definitely looks a lot better than most pics i have seen so far but we all agree (with a small majority of fans who i would guess to be 16-17 years old) that the 2008 STi looks ridiculous. subaru has come out with some questionable designs for the impreza so far but this one really takes the cake. and you cant judge a brand and a car's performance based on the fact that it comes with a huge but removable spoiler the 06-07s (pics on the last page) have really grown on me to be honest. but jesus the 04-05s? i just think of subaru as strictly business. and while im at it, a hell of a lot more reliable. that being said the 135 seems like bmw's answer to the kids that had an integra as their first car, bought a subaru eventually and are now to the point where they want the same bang for the buck and focused driving experience but something that they arent embarrassed to take their boss to lunch in (that is me exactly :tongue. yet another unforseen niche the 135 has filled. way to drop the design-ball subaru.

It's unfortunate that the other owners haven't welcomed the guy with the STI, because that's a cracking performance car. It should be welcomed in any enthusiast's circle, and scrutinized in the same manner as one of the more exotic ones...

But that being said, the R8 will run freakin' circles around the STI, at any track.

Obviously you're a victim of marketing.

It's not a "streetable version of a rally car."

Subaru isn't a rally car manufacturer that detunes cars for the public.

The STi is a hopped up version of a cheap sedan/hatch that mimics WRC motifs.

Not taking away from the fact that it's really fast, but you've got the formula backward.

Actually, you're wrong here. The JDM STI Spec C is the homologation car for Subaru's WRC effort. The WRC car is indeed based off the hopped up version of a cheap sedan. It does receive extensive changes--like wider flares, larger tires, a different wing, stripped interior, etc... But it's still based off the Spec C.

And Subaru's Rally America cars in the US are based off the USDM STI.

That said... I'd rock an R8

Hey, man, I didn't say I'd BUY it. Only that I'd rock it. No sense looking a gift horse in the mouth, ya know.

'Cuz then the gift horse hands you a GTO or a Cadillac CTS.
