Question Basic Bolt On Discussion

Hello again guys, the time is soon coming to throw some more parts at the E82. Pretty much going to get into the basics, Charge-Pipe, Downpipe, Intake, and cooling, Intercooler, inlets. Im wanting to start more or less a discussion of what everyone is running and experience with each, possibly to get a master thread for the best basic bolt ons.

Already looking into VSRF Downpipes and a few other options for Charge-Pipes.

What are you guys running?!

In decreasing order of importance, the best ways to get easy power on a N55 are:

MHD tune (custom dyno remap optional)
catless downpipe
intercooler / water meth
e85 mix, but really if you have to mix gas every time you fill the car it's probably time for a turbo upgrade..see below.

The stock air filter is pretty good and replacing it will make nearly no difference on a stock turbo and you will lose a lot of filtration which is bad for the engine.

There is also a restriction in the charge piping and probably a muffler on the turbo inlet, but again, diminishing returns. The stock turbo is very small and you need to replace it to get a "serious" power increase. Pure Stage 2 is the easiest way to do that.

I want to drive your car and mine to feel how significant the differences are. My mods are very limited. I actually have more parts awaiting install than what I currently have done

Mods in signature..suspension/diff will be installed in the early early spring. Wanted to get all the engine/basic cosmetic mods out of the way.

For the spring:
Coilovers
M control arms
Trailing arms
LSD
Outlet pipe
Port meth injection (have CP meth right now)
Gtr hood
1M front fenders
Carbon mirror caps
Bbk??? (Still deciding on this)

The car is immensely fun to drive...just need a custom tune to take advantage of everything. Also, need an lsd/stickier tires to put the power down.

Did you have to roll your fenders to get the 255's to fit in front?

VRSF downpipes are prove to fit like OE.
Also comes with a lifetime warranty.

Their Downpipe and charge pipes are one of our most popular products.

Current setup:

Engine
- Dinan stg 2 (came with the car)
- VTT turbo's
- BMS OCC
- CDV delete

Intake
- BMS dci
- VTT inlets

Exhaust
- Full berk race
- VRSF downpipes

Suspension
- H&R front/rear sway bars

Wheels
- Apex EC7 18x8.5 front MPSS 235/40/18
- Apex EC7 18x9.5 rear MPSS 255/35/18

Haven't had any actual issues for the last year (roughly 30k miles) since I've owned it aside from regular maintenance. I use it all-year round, yes even in snow (different tire setup) and it's a great car in my experience.

2010 (N54) auto

RB relocate inlets
VRSF 5" stepped intercooler
CPE relocate charge pipe, Tial BOV
N20 TMAP
1320 catless downpipes
Berk resonated mid pipes
fuel-it stg 2 pump, fuel line upgrade too
BMS oil thermostat

XHP stg 3 trans flash
custom MHD tune (E-??, changes often)

Whiteline rear subframe inserts
E92 Koni FSD + Eibach pro kit springs

If I where to do it all over (which I will eventually,
- I would go with the 7" or bigger cooler right away
- I would not relocate the intake. The heat soak in staging lanes is bad vs stock airbox. On track lapping there is no problems.

Other than that I'm really happy with what I've bought and the returns I've got. 11's on minimal mods. Not gonna bitch about that.
