Spreader Tool?

Anyone have a strut spreader tool I can borrow/buy in the Toronto area? Didn't think these would be such a pain to get. Thank you!

What a PITA when you need special tools to get the job done.

I ended up making a ghetto one myself and worked pretty well.

I used a spacer and nut with an impact gun to pull the strut out and used a plastic pipe piece with worm clamps to hold it while adding more spacers and while installing the top hats

How about rounding off a 3/4" to 1/2" socket adapter or giant allen ?

Pardon my ignorance, but wouldn't a spring compressor work, too?

Gorilla linked a video regarding the tool I am looking for. Unfortunately don't have a grinder to make that, but I can borrow one of those as a last resort. I have a lead for a tool store here in Toronto that may get a spreader tool in today. Will report back if I can find one there. Thanks for your posts.

Thats a slick way of getting it apart! I have an old set of spring compressors that work well, I end up using a gear wrench on it, surprisingly quick.

Thanks for the help everyone. I managed to source one at a tool place in Toronto called Variety Tools Ltd at the North York Sheridan Mall.

They seem to have lots of weird and odd tools, and if they don't it appears they can source it fairly quickly. Pricing was very reasonable as well.
