It's weird, but I really like the dash in the regular Civic. I guess that I just prefer analog gauges in a more sport focused car. That's probably why I'll also pass on any wood in a 1er.

yea i guess I had better start looking at other cars. 38k is too much for a car that dosn't even have a LSD. the only other performance car I know of that gets away with that is the cayman. you
I'll take a low milage one year old vette for the same price. Unless I go to germany next then I'll reconsider since it will then be in my price range. I would rather have a sportscar anyway |

I'm just getting back home and seeing these prices.
No surprise- I was expecting 34,900 for the 135...it comes in at 35,600. The way the dollar's comparative value to the Euro has been falling- 35,600 is a little high but Jesus, BMW has probably spent some real sweat-time hedging the intial price. Keep in mind, this could be a bargain if the dollar continues it's ugly slide. Still, as reality sets in I'm not thrilled- BMW would be wise to get the configurator up and running. I'm thinking Black and Terra. |

Hey Brookside. Welcome to the party. Black and Terra would be sharp. I have Black and Camel on my current car, which I plan to keep, so I'll probably go with another combo to assuage my inner child. |

Too bad it wasn't $200 or someone would be buying you some power seats for your new 1er. |

I am wary of the 4-cylinder reports (the concept was shown with an N54), so I am leaning towards it being more expensive. I guess we will see.

A lot of posts here seem to be strictly shopping on price. I mean, how could you jump to a Honda Civic Si from the 1er? No disrespect to the Civic, but isn't RWD the point of this car???
I personally think that the 135i is very fairly priced. I paid well over that amount for my E46 M3, which while I am still amazed by it on a daily basis, has hereby been put on notice! The wait begins... |

I am very happy that so many here are butt-hurt about the 135i pricing.
Crying about an extra grand... too funny. Poor sales will only help me when I negotiate my purchase. |

BMW 1 Series Priced Less Than $30,000
BMW's new 1 Series coupe will have a base price including destination [ Destination & Handling $775 ] of $29,375 for the 128i and $35,675 for the 135i. The 128i is powered by a 230-hp inline-six that can hit 60 mph from a standstill in 6.1 seconds with the manual transmission, while the 135i does the run a whole second quicker. Under the 135i's hood sits the BMW's 300-hp twin-turbo six-cylinder. The coupe hits dealerships in spring 2008, and a convertible version of the 1 Series will be shown at the Detroit auto show in January. Can you say sinking dollar? Can you say European delivery? http://www.bmwusa.com/bmwexperience/...ry/savings.htm |

I think that there was a segment of posters that were hoping that BMW would hit a "Home Run" with pricing in an attempt to attract buyers who might be shopping for a coupe in the mid 20s. If the 128i came in at 27K-28K then it would be a viable alternative, but at almost 30K the 128i doesn't seem like such a good deal. Unfortunately BMW's marketing plan is as much a mystery now as it was when they first announced the 1er coupe.

My RX8 MSRP was 34k so 35,600 seems aboujt right for the 135. Of course I got mine for 29k and I don't expect that will be an option on the 135. After a couple of years invoice should be doable. Guessing about 33,300 invoice.

seeing what some of the members drive now. I think they were hoping the 135(or the 1er in general) would be a daily driven COMMUTER car. so the lower the base price the better.

I would disagree. I knew BMW’s hands were tied regarding the pricing, so no surprise there. However, I do not see much value in 1-series. It is not a real enthusiast’s car and not much cheaper than 3-series, so I really struggle with the market positioning of 1-series. Thus, I would read into it too much. I am not really sure if BMW is intending to make this a hit, I suspect BMW is opportunistic about 1-series. Chances are most people skip 1-series and go straight to 3-series. Even if there are some people who dig 1-series, BMW won’t lose money. As long as it is not branded as a failure, BMW will be OK. 4-cylinder 1-series would become a real volume seller and could take some share from Japanese autos, but it is not an option in the US.

i.e. You earn $45k annally. Is a $35k car expensive? In retospect, you earn $545k annually. Is that $35k car still expensive? While the cost of the 135i came in about 1k more than I hoped, I am still set on picking one up as a lease. Although every penny helps me since I have to tack on an extra $290/mo to the car just to park it. Welcome to NYC. |

I was debating a slightly used 335i, I just dont feel like waiting, but the 135 has grown on me so much. I prefer the styling, the performance is better and for 1200$ a company out of miami has a computer upgrade that gets you 380-400hp an you can switch it off for normal driving. Throw in the service provided by BMW and I really dont see how people wouldnt but this car. I made no quesses but most people were on the mark. I saw the 335 well outperform the G37 before it overheated and I drove my Friends 335i and it impressed the crap out of me. If the one is anything close, and Im guessing it is, Im sold.
