Does anyone have one of these for the coupe? Any idea where to get one besides BMW?

I've been trawling the internet for a few things, this manual being one of them.

So far, no luck.

I have the complete 'Aftersales/Training/Product information of the E88 Body/Complete vehicle manual if that's of any use to anyone...

I believe zuzu and other vert owners may want to pester me about getting a copy of this

I have it in hard copy and it's nearly 80 pages long - I'll see what I can do about getting an electronic copy

I have a very good friend of mine who works for one of the Melb. (which will remain un-named for obvious reasons) BMW service centres

That's also where I got a similar copy of the new 'GS7D36SG' 7sp DCT trans. which I've mentioned in other threads

Now all I need to grab a hold of is similar to my 1st mentioned manual on the 1er coupe...

I'll let you know when I'm in possesion of an electronic copy - should be in PDF format

Try this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-1...d=p3911.c0.m14

It skips over a lot of basic stuff as it is obviously aimed at someone who king of knows what they are doing, but still very helpful and cheap. I'm waiting for mine to arrive after just ordering, but I currently have the '05 edition.

I saw this on ebay. It only covers the hatch and not the twin turbo. And of course it covers left hand drive. Look forward to seeing what Wraith can organise. Happy to help out with cost if needed.

Why do say that?

The TIS manual covers whatever models and versions BMW had globally at the time this particular version was produced. UK has had RHD from before USA.

I'll report back when I get it if it is missing something, but I doubt it.

You may be correct. The site differs from the one I originally saw. I have sent them an email requesting confirmation. Mea culpa.

Okay - have ordered the TIS from another source. Will let you know if it is any good and then others can "borrow" a copy as necessary.

Well the TIS (Technical Information System) disk finally arrived and I have had a chance to install it and try a few things. All I can say is that it is a mirical that BMW can repair a car!. The system is archaic, clunky and frankly next to useless. The E82 section looks like a work in progress and the info seems to date from about a year ago. The interior of the car is not addressed (eg how to remove trim etc) although much of the mechanical stuff such as brakes etc are well covered. It does make a point of the heap of "special tools" needed to work on the car.

It took nearly and hour to load and of course does not recognise my VIN number. It can be loaded so that it runs on your hard disk or from the CD.

For the technogeeks it may be of interest, but to me it is of little use. Interested?

qship I got my updated TIS manual too recently. Didn't take too long to install, but I wasn't able to install as the HD option. I've got the vendor sending me another disk.

Manual is a little clunky and doesn't go into a huge level of detail as of course it assumes the audience already know the basics. But it does tell you pretty much everything, including how to pull the trim apart.....

You just need to know where to look! Above pic took less then 30sec to find once I read your post.
FYI, most of the DIY stuff is under "Repair Instructions"

Cheers Aussieracer.

Have mucked about for an hour or so and found most of what I wanted. My old dbase programming days keep coming back to haunt me. As you said, it gets easier with use and knowledge.

Still cannot figure how to remove the sunroof controls (I want to tap into the power up there) but will continue to plod away. I have loaded it onto my harddrive with no probs. If the vendor stuffs you around , let me know.

regards:smile:

Amen to that.......

And the best bit is when you in depth into a major engine job or something and then the explanation has been converted from german to english and some words are missing, drives us crazy all the time.

For part numbers and exploded diagrams etc go to

http://www.realoem.com/

It is basically the BMW TIS system and is free.
