VSXX Offset Question

Hey all, currently looking at purchasing a new set of wheels. I’m currently on stock suspension but I plan to go with H&R 1 inch short springs soon. I’ve been looking at VSXX, particularly the 18 inch. I’ve read that 8.5” width should be good but not sure whether that’s for the front or the rear. Does anyone have an optimal width and offset for a -1.0” setup (spacers if needed as well). Still new to the hobby as this is the first BMW I’ve owned so anyone help would be greatly appreciated

^^^ That should get you a lot of info. It is what that company considered to be perfect. I'm not sure it's perfect but it's very close to it for certain.

Also, offsets and spacer measurements are in mm's (millimeters). Tire widths too. Although the wheel widths are measured in inches, haha.

For wheel widths, just size them for the tires. There's an acceptable range for any given tire width, too small or too wide aren't great. There are online charts for this.

For offsets, generically speaking it is a measure of how far the wheel sticks out from the car (it's actually a measure of the middle of the wheel vs. where it mounts). Offsets in the range that we deal in for our cars may feel backwards. A smaller offset value in mm sticks out more, a larger offset value pulls the wheel closer to the car.

A wheel with a small offset value, say 30, will stick out fairly far. You may need a skinnier tire and it might rub the fender. A huge offset value would rub on the suspension instead. It gets confusing where a huge offset with a spacer makes the offset smaller and might help center the wheel (a 45mm offset with a 5mm spacer becomes a 40mm offset). You kind of have to wrap your head around that one.

Don't forget bolt pattern needs to match, and wheel bore as well - if the hole in the middle of the wheel is too small it wont' go on at all, if it's too big you'll need a dedicated adapter (spacer ring) to fill the gap.

Maybe call the company and see what they recommend, then share here and we can help be sure.
