Anyone found decent RFT replacements yet for the 135i?

" lack of LSD with these cars doesn't help at all."

turn off ALL traction control stuff and you get a eLSD,almost as good as a machnical one. stick the car on a track and you would notice the diff but not on normal roads.

as for tires, i hear falkans are a great compromise between price and performance, also yokahams (if thats how its spelt) have had good reviews.

Jonny, so you're saying that the Falks and the Yokos are available in 135i sized fitment, front and rear?

One of the guys on babybmw has Falken 452's Tyre size front 215/40 R18 and rear 245/35 R18 on his 135, don't know about the Yokahomas. He is very happy with the tyre choice, as are a lot of the 130i owners although some swear by PS2's.

Got ps2s on the rear today and it rained. Although they are new the grip was superb compared to the run flats but maybe its just cause their new or i cant fully remember what the rfts were like brand new in the wet.

So come next week I'm going to have to replace the rears - they are marginal now and I'm off to Vmax (those of you who frequent Pistonheads will know what I'm talking about) at the weeknd which will finish them off It's either PS2 (although these seem to be low in stock) or Pirelli P-Zero Rosso that are going on. We've got a favourable report on PS2s above - has anyone tried the Rosso's?

Decision made I think - PS2s all round, which means going up to 225 on the front, which plenty of people here seem to have done with no issues - and it will dial out the understeer a little. A bit annoyed that it means two serviceable front run-flats being replaced, but I'll ask if I can hang on to them....

So far so good - but I've only done about 30 miles, in the rain :-) But certainly feels just a little less harsh and certainly no less grippy, but hard to really tell given greasy roads and release-agent covered tyres. Will report ongoing!

I changed my RFTs on my 135i for Goodyear eagle F1's 10mm wider than stock both front and back, and in my opinion, it does make the car better, but not by much, eveything is kind of 10-15% better with non-RFT, except wet grip, which is transformed ten fold.

theres my 2p

oh and my car is for sale now, somebody buy it!

I just swapped all my RFT's over to Michelin PS2s I went 225/40 up front and 255/35 on the rear. The ride and grip is a lot better now IMHO.

BTW manufc4eva you should never mix runflats and non runflats I'm really suprised that any tyre place would even fit them for you like that. Hope you've got your fronts changed by now.

This is a really interesting discussion topic. I have always run Eagle F1's on my M3's and I don't like the reports I am hearing about low temp grip and wet grip, not to mention a crashy ride.

They might not be out and out sports cars but the 135 is still a 300 horse RWD car and we are running them in a country where its wet and cold for half the journeys of the car.
