Whoa, you're finally on a boat?! You can get your VIN off the BMWUSA site if you want in a lil trick I learned. I wrote about it in who knows what thread at this point, but basically when you're logged in there, say you want to edit/delete your car, and then it asks you something like, are you sure you want to delete ________________ and it provides the last 7 I think of your vin. You can then plug that into a vin decoder to get the full vin and check that everything was put on there correctly, colors, options, etc.

I believe you aren't allowed to start a boat thread until you find 3 people on your boat. =P And then if they just find 3 people...

Ah, got the VIN, thanks. Now where does that plug in on the W&W or NYK sites? I've tried a few fields but it's not having it.

Hmmm...I'd say that sounds like a pyramid scheme, Greg, except I think it's actually an inverse pyramid scheme -- everyone will be spending so much time tracking their boat that no one will be earning any money!

NYK doesn't have cargo searching. For W&W, going off of memory, should be under like customer centre, then something that says cargo ID and you plug in your VIN # as the cargo ID. Note that it takes several days to show up on there though. Think it took ours 4-5 days maybe before it showed up in their cargo.

Nothing wrong with a pyramid or inverse pyramid scheme...so long as you're on the right part of the pyramid. O=|

Ironically, I gotta get back to work defending a bank in an ALLEGED ponzi scheme by one of their clients.

Congrats on finally getting on a boat Worra. Now enjoy the lovely, all inclusive 25-day cruise.

Thanks everyone, I'll give it a few days before trying to search with my VIN - my CA said the boat trip is about 28 days, so here's to the next stage of waiting!

That's especially true if your boat is afraid of the Panama Canal or captain appears to suffer from claustrophobia.

You have an idea of what boat it is on? Also, depends on how many stops it makes, as sometimes they stop in San Diego and/or Long Beach to drop other stuff off before heading to Port Hueneme.

No idea on the boat yet, my CA is out today and my VIN isn't working for tracking purposes. Maybe Fume can find out

Well thanks Greg, I'm going to have nightmares about this until the boat docks in CA.

Oh that'll buff right out. And I don't like white cars. hahaha.

Sorry Worra! Blame IEDEI! He started it with the pic of the Tricolor, which was clearly one of the sections they cut out of it as that's how they did it - cut like huge sections out like cheese and then put them on the docks to recycle the 20 tons of metal in there. If it makes you feel any better, a bunch of volvos and saabs were ruined. And it was in 2003 after hitting another boat. Pretty sure you're safe now.

Or I'll just blame Kouper for having me pay it forward, though he'll probably deny all knowledge. hahaha.

Plus Worra, I think you might be on an NYK Lines boat. =)

Geez, I go to lunch for an hour and come back to all this high seas adventure, predictions for record storms next week and the likelihood that Worra's car is going to need some extra PDR and buffing out by the dealer -- if it even makes it to the dealer!

Way to learn from EGR valve-gate and pay it forward, Greg. But then, I wouldn't know anything about that other than the rumors I heard...

Haha!

The only NYK boat that looks like it could have been close on the schedule is the Hoechst Express but looking at the boat's path, that seems wrong.

That'll teach you to go to lunch. Worra's car will be fiiine. He doesn't have any known shipmates at this time, so we're just giving him a feel for what it's like to have his own boat thread and all the hijinks involved in the madness of the wait at sea.

And for IEDEI for starting it, here's his song of the day, replacing "I'm on a Boat":

It's not Hoechst as that's not a car shipping boat, that's a container ship.

Let me find the link because the port of hueneme lists their schedule of incoming boats a few weeks out to help you cross reference.

Ya, it's only projecting out right now til the 13th.

I asked my CA and I got this tracking info:
NYK
Vessel: CENTAURUS LEADER
Voyage No: 68
Est. Departure: 8/30/13
Est. Duration: 28
Actual Departure: 8/30/13
Port of Arrival: Port Hueneme, CA
Est. Arrival: 9/27/13

Interesting that it actually departed on 8/30 although it just got updated on the website today. If it does get to Port Hueneme on 9/27, does anyone know how long it stays at the port before being transported to the dealer?
