Has anyone tried to fit a front strut brace like the cusco/turner etc under these new strut rings? Curious to know if it would fit.

But what's the alternative for someone who needs to open up the area if they have adjuster knobs coming out? Other strut bars are even more expensive.

Plus these have dust covers.

The M plastic covers alone justify the entire cost

In all seriousness, total brain fart. When I installed the bar I forgot to pull the pins out so I tried loosening the strut nuts today to remove the bar. In doing so I somehow broke the stud off the strut mount. Rather than order a new one figured good reason to switch to Dinan plates but man, talk about royally screwing up head should've been a 5 min mod.

I was actually being serious about the dust covers. Most shocks are open at the top and you will have premature failure if you are feeding dirt into them.

I was half serious too, yes mine are exposed in the Z4 but I have to keep them open since I'm running coilovers with adjusters sticking out. But I find myself always wiping them down, making sure no dust/dirt get inside the threaded portion of the knobs and what not.

I was fully serious about my studs snapping, wtf.

Yeah that really sucks.

Frankly, I'm none too impressed with the hardware in that region. My brother's wife's e91 2009 wagon already has those studs rusting. The hell is that about? My fiance's ZHP's still look factory new.

1 / 51618051973 / SPRING DOME STRUT, LEFT (unique to 1M)

1 / 51618051974 / SPRING DOME STRUT, RIGHT (unique to 1M)

Everywhere I've tried has come up empty on having these.

I like ECS and Turner for parts like this. Looks like this mod will be in my future, thanks for posting.

Wow cheaper than i expected

On one hand i like the cheapness+added convenience and the look

But i'd kinda prefer the functionality of the m3 one, being it's probably somewhat stiffer :/... But for like double the price...

This is definitely on my list. I hate that every time I clean the engine bay there's debris inside the strut towers. They should have made a simple cap to close out the opening from the factory.

Yeah, and depending on the design of the strut, that can fail them super early.

Bump

If anyone is looking for the M3 strut brace that HPautoworks sells for the e82, I have one for sale, $350.

I cant speak for the 1M brace but with the M3 brace from HPautoworks it made a noticeable difference, mostly in initial input/turn in.

Heads up- if you have Vorshlag plates, you may require an extra set of hands to fit these as the studding piece of the plate can drop.

Does anyone run a BMS Oil Catch Can with this brace with no fitment issues?

Is this brace the same thickness and shape as the stock 135i brace?
