I thought the ventilation timer (HVAC) was a discontinued feature. XBOOK - are you saying it's back in the 1 series???

Only bummer is that you do have to set the timer every time you want to use it. So now i have made it part of my leaving the car "ritual" when I get to work. It would be nice if the settings could be held, but I guess it's a battery protection thing. If you had the timer set to come on every day @ 5:30pm, and you never started the car, it could run the batter down. Here are some pics of the Climate screen, and the HVAC controls (which show a lil' fan icon to let you know the timer is activated): gotta love an iphone and a .mac account for easy sharing

I bought the OEM sunshade for my 1er and love it. It fits perfect and is a quality piece. It definitely keeps the temperature down while my car is sitting in the Florida sun.

OK.....try www.AutoGeek.net
under "accessories / sunshades" AND remember folks, always park with your car facing the sun when you use the windshield sun shield to minimize sun into your interior from the other windows. That may be obvious but just thought I'd throw that out there. With the combination of the sunshield and the interior ventilation timer my car is just barely hotter than it is outside when I get in it after sitting all day. And the seats are no more than "room" temperature.

Opinions of the accordian style? They retract to the edge of the windshield and then you pull them out when you park (the autogeek link above will get you there, they are "eclipse"). A bit pricey at $60 but the idea of just pulling them across the windshield is very appealing. The reviews are all good at the linked site.

I got the BMW one. I like it. Fits perfectly (expected). It doesnt have that reflective foil like all generic ones but it serves the purpose well. I couldnt finf the generic one that fits so I picked original one. It is on a pricey side though.

I ended up buying what looks like a Heatshield from BavAuto for $35 on sale. It works well. It is noticably lighter than my SUV model, however. I don't know if that's because it's made by somebody else or if Headshield changes the stiffness/thickness depending on the size. Less stiff is nice in the 1 because you can roll it up tighter so it takes less space when stored.

Sorry guys... I completely forgot about this thread... I'll post pics tomorrow morning when I put them in at work.
Oh, and they should be available from Cee Bailey's now. Automotive applications aren't their normal deal, so if they seem confused, mention my name and how I made templates for the 1 for them. If their website doesn't list it yet then call. I think once you see the pictures you'll understand why I love them so much. Even on 95* days my car is cooler inside than out because it's pitch black in there haha. No joke. |
