Should I go ahead and buy a road tax sticker for Austria or wait till the last Esso before leaving Germany?
2 of my hand-held radios actually worked so I'll bring them along. |

Sure bring the radios(and new batteries!). I looked at my PowerZone and they did not even carry walkie talkies. They hadn't for years! So the guy said. lol I will be driving down to Krusten tomorrow afternoon/evening. I hope the hotel I cam staying at has a WLAN for my tablet. Other wise I might have to find some hot spot to check this thread. Yup, 1addict!! On a side note... it will be cool up in the mountains. So maybe bring a pull over and/or light jacket.

I'm thinking I might head south tomorrow and make a run through the Black Forest. Then stay near the Swiss Border and shoot over toward you guys Sat. morning. I'm not sure how early I'll have to leave to meet up with you guys in Imst. I'll let you know tomorrow when I finish planning. Anybody have a good suggestion for a place to stay near Bad Sackingen on the border?

Yeah Dackel...that's the hotel. Tell them you are with the BWM driving club and use my name but register in your own name.
I'm picking up my vignette at ADAC tomorrow...after I sell my 135... Yeap it's sold. Tomorrow is also wax and rainx time. I'm also on summer tires...guess we'll need to play it by ear. Anyone bringing a spare tire? What other emergency gear you guys bringing? Flashlight, blankets, tire inflator kit, traffic vests for each person in car, walkie talkies.....

WoW! He posts! <jk> You will need a autobahn vignette for Austria. But its no big deal buying one at ANY German autobahn gas station before the border. Just look for one of the signs(very top sign! in photo!!)... Verkauf's Stelle... IF you get the chance... you might pick up a spare light bulb kit for ten euros. They are also sold at any German gas station. You also need a warn vest for every person in the car - and they need to be inside the car! I will be taking my mini spare donut and jack kit. IF anyone gets a flat, I will have a good rental price for you! :") <jk> I just put on my PS3 summer tires too. (finally!) so IF its cold we all will just have to take it easy. David

The Black Forrest is VERY nice. Very nice roads. Especially the Deutshe Hoch Strasse. It is world famous like Stelvio Pass is. You will have fun on that road. It will be just slow(er) bc you will be driving mostly 100kph bc its all Bundesstrasse.
