Possible to add oem turbos to 128?
I have a 135i, and barely did any research into the 128i. Is it the same 3.0 engine, without the turbo/assemblies/fmic/electronics?
is it possible to make the upgrade? im sure it would be a rediculous procedure.....just want to know if its a semi-"bolt on" upgrade |

Glad I got the 135i. The 128i wasnt even an option for me. I drove my 1997 328is for 10 years, and had ///M3 envy everyday.
have the BBS RXII's for sale if y'all have any e36 friends

In all respects it is REAL sport car compared to very nice, speedy all rounder coupe what the 1st series exactly is. Don't think that 5 s. acceleration brings you to campus of real sport cars onwers. And I don't owe M3 BTW, just try to be realistic. |

I had M3 envy till I drove one a couple of weeks ago. I had practically decided to buy one in the next 6-12 months and my mind changed 10 minutes into the test drive. It's an great GT car, but is by no means a REAL sports car at its size and weight. (Not saying the 135 is a REAL sports car either)

Buy a Lotus Exige or a Cayman S if you want an uncompromising "sports car."

^^^Word!
I drove a M3 the same day as tkBrown. It is a great car BUT for everyday driving my 135i hands down is more fun...not to mention the extra 67lb/ft of torque I have with the 135i(you can figure out why). The M3 has the definite HUGE edge in the handling department. Fit and finish IS better but when I am driving I really, really didn't pay any attention to it. For daily street driving it actually got...dare I say it....boring...you just CANNOT drive it the way it is meant to be on the street. If you were to make it a track car that is a whole new ballpark. Sounds great though. Would I trade my 135i for it? Hmm...only if the M was heavily discounted. I think I will just save my ducketts and get a E36 or E46 M3 in the future. |

Sure it's a bit heaver than the base 128i engine but it's only 16 lbs heavier than the 135i engine. For 16 lbs I'd say it's worth it.... as long as we don't care about cost, difficulty, reliability, etc.
(That's assuming the engine weights I found on here are accurate; N52=354lbs, N54=429lbs, S65=445lbs. I'm sure that doesn't count the extra oil & peripherals that go along with the S65.) People do ridiculous things to old BMW's including stuffing engines from M5's into smaller, older 3-series. I'm sure you'll see a 135/128 S65 conversion some time in the next 10 years but don't expect one much before then. |

I've owned an Exige and it's truly exceptional for driving (and not much else). The Cayman S, I've heard, is a close second. Never actually driven one but I've been enamored for quite some time.

I Have driven a Cayman(not the S), it IS amazing to drive... I just can't get myself to like the looks of it... or its price. But maybe the 320HP on the S would change my mind... idk what im talking about.
