No more "Press button to Accept"
I hated the legal message that comes up when starting the engine - made me feel like I had to negotiate with the car to go get the groceries.
Yesterday I got that feature coded Off: now when I start the car the BMW logo comes on, and then goes immediately to whatever screen was showing when I turned the car off. The coding was performed remotely over the Internet by Kao, of b i m c o d i n g . c o m I had a Macbook Air, so after I received the special cable, he installed Fusion to run Windows and a piece of remote control SW, then did the work from his PC in Seattle. It took about 10 minutes total, including adding a couple of other features: enabling the keyfob to close the windows (long press on Lock button), and unlocking the door when the engine is shut off to avoid the double-pull on the handle. I logged in on the Mac as Guest user for the remote session, so when I logged out, Mac OS erased all the software and any changes he made. Well worth the money IMHO, and a very professional job at that. Last edited by EldRick; 11-24-2014 at 11:30 PM.. |

DSCPLN: I got the first three of your list. At $10 each, I couldn't see much point in the other two.
Rikx1M: My understanding is that it isn't the engine computer, but others around the car that get reprogrammed, and that those are rarely updated by BMW. If they do get overwritten, you get a break on a re-do. |
