Several times I've reached for the handle to open the door and nothing happened. Having read every post in this thread, I got panicky until I realized the door was already unlocked. What a relief. Lucky so far.
I also noticed that the CA didn't work for my sister, who has very small hands. She thought I was playing a trick on her somehow, like pushing the key fob button while in my pocket or something. Seems I've heard reports of small hands being an issue with CA. Not the same issue as being discussed here, though. |

It's worth every penny. Once you have owned a car with this feature, you will never want to own another one without it. I've got a rental car right now and the key is driving me nuts! |

Whew! Good thing I flaked out of my window tinting appointment last weekend.
No tint yet with CA. Don't have any problems yet. Had car for about 4 weeks now. |

I've had 0 problems with CA even after my tint? Just let the installer know that they need to keep the water on the inside of the window to a minimum.

Same here. I've had tint for a week and I've had no problems with CA at all. I made a point of going with F1 Pinnacle tint but I'm guessing it's more of an issue with water in the door than it is the type of tint (though it's only a guess).

No tint.
Have had two occasions since pickup (4weeks), where the car fails to recognise fob in cabin, and won't start. First time, I had to resort to inserting fob into dash. Second time, I waited a few seconds and it responded. The first time did coincide with activating seat memory, but could have been just that, coinsidence. Now 7 hours from tinting appointment at dealer. Will go ahead, but if problems arise, at least I can point the finger at them, and they can't blame a dodgy back-street tinter.

Somewhere the owners manual mentions a two second delay between tries of the CA. For example, if you try to lock the door and it doesn't work, you have to pause for two seconds before trying it again. I think during that time it's trying to re-read the RFID. That doesn't explain why it didn't work the first time, but just something to keep in mind. |

I'm also having problems with this feature. Felt like a fool standing in the rain today trying to get it working. I had my windows tinted (by the dealership), but I had problems before as well. It just won't work to unlock or lock the car with the handle about 1/5 times. Pulling the key out of my pocket and holding it next to the handle works.
I've tried disabling Wifi on my phone, keeping my key in a different pocket than my phone. Doesn't seem to make any difference. Seems like a waste of $500 if it doesn't work consistently. |

Touch wood, got the windows tinted today, and so far, CA still works.
Had a bit of a play, and with the fob and iPhone in same pocket, CA performance was compromised, especially the boot. Hopefully things stay ok. Given RF's are involved, does anyone know the frequencies? Could there be some of us whose frequencies are close to mobile phone / microwave etc frequencies, and therefore more likely to suffer interference?

Has anyone resolved this problem at all? I have stopped using mine for the trunk and driver's door, works fairly well passenger side and inside. Even the buttons on the remote are getting unresponsive now, and yes I have changed the battery.

I had issues with my trunk lid not opening while on ED after about 12 days/1400 miles, although the doors worked every time. IIRC, people on other forums have had problems with CA and the fob buttons failing simultaniously: problems with one means problems with the other.

Interesting how you guys are having issues with CA. I have a 650 with CA and I only usually have my issues of having to try 2 or 3 times to unlock is the truck in which I push the BMW roundel in to open it. The door, I just grab the handle and to lock it, I just tap the lock area where you would stick the key in. This is all done with the key in my pocket. And it always starts up 100%. I too have tinted windows called Quantum. Like I said, I usually find my issues in the trunk part. I do notice that once in awhile when I want to drop the top by holding down the unlock button I would have to try a couple of times before it reacts. I am not sure if you guys have any issues when you hold the unlock button for awhile if your windows and sunroof have any issues opening right away. Same goes on the convertibles.

My dealer told me that it was caused by "aftermarket window tint." I pointed out that I had the tint installed at that same dealership, and was told that it would not cause any problems. Still insisted on removing the window tint (at my expense) and that it was not storing any diagnostic codes. Pretty crappy service :-/
