135i Tire Question

I have my 135 in service for some issues and I was told that 3 of my tires (the fourth was changed because of a flat) need to be changed. I have a little over 25,000 miles on the car and was wondering if this is normal? I was told that 1 of the tires is getting to metal in the middle, even though the edges looking completely fine to me. Does this sound right? I thought the cars go through nearly 36,000 miles without a change as my wife mainly drives the car.

Also, if it is true that I need to change my tires, is there a national change with the exact tires (since it's a lease) that I can use? Any recommendations for the place that I can change it for the lowest price?

25k is actually a little on the high side. If a tire is wearing first in the middle then it usually means the tire is overinflated (assuming the tire is not defective).

My rears were gone at about 20k miles.
My fronts still have decent tread (maybe 25% of original) at 27K miles.

Maybe a good opportunity to look into getting something other than RFTs?

Any suggestions as to where they have good prices for these specific tires? Doesn't look like I'll make the 36K miles for the lease return.

And if it's a lease I think you have to stick with the RFT (run flat tires) or at least have a set on when you return the car,.

Wow...I will be really happy if I get 20K on my tires. I was going through rear tires ever 10K or so on the M Roadster.

I would be surprised that the middle of the tread was worn versus the inside edge on the rears. Even with the stock camber, you will find the inside edge wears first. It would really need to be over inflated to get the middle worn first.

I agree. 25k miles is pretty decent with the RFT's.

As far as wearing on the middle abnormally... that sounds to be over inflation possibly.

25K is very high. I've had performance tires go in less than 6k so 25k is tremendous. If you've only owned SUVs or Camrys it may sound low but these are comparatively soft performance tires and they go much faster. There are wear bars right on the tire so you can check for yourself to see if they're ripping you off (which they are not).

Even if you stretched it to 36k to fulfill your lease term they would certainly make you replace them (read: charge you to replace them) as they would be completely shot.

Yup, I'm just under 20k miles and I need to replace the rear tires as well, with the fronts not far behind.

It sounds like a few people have done this, but any thoughts as to whether it is best to replace all 4 tires at once, or if it is okay to do the rear tires now and fronts in a few months?

Also, I'm researching other threads on 1additcs, but if anyone has a recommendation on tires, I'd love to hear it. I have a 135i with standard sport package wheels. I'm fine buying the stock Potenza RE050A (215/40R18 and 245/35R18) again, but they seem a bit pricey. For the money I want to get the best tires rather than just buy those again because they came with the car.

25k is great for RFT's. I've not heard from too many people getting more mileage than that out of them.
